Arkansas opens 2026 at just 4.5 wins, and the numbers back the pessimism: the Razorbacks are 3-9-1 O/U on their win total over the past two decades. See our full predictions and odds history.

Arkansas is widely considered one of the most perpetually disappointing programs in the Power 4 – and the data agrees.

The Razorbacks have fallen short of expectations more than any other team in the SEC over the past 15 years. And even with a low bar in 2026, you shouldn't be surprised to see casuals and experts alike fading this team hard.

Here's a look at the recent history of Arkansas win totals, along with predictions on whether the Razorbacks will surpass or fall short of their 2026 number of 4.5:

Brad Powers

Despite a 2-10 record last year, Arkansas had positive yards per play and yards per game margins. That usually goes well for the following year. However, this is a brand new staff and roster. My power ratings project the Razorbacks to be underdogs in 10 games.

There’s been plenty of discussion around whether or not Ryan Silverfield has any aura. But the more important question is: does his portal-heavy roster have the talent to navigate a hellish schedule?

Arkansas has the 13th-toughest schedule based on SOS (.601) and is leaning heavily on Group of Six transfers like Chris Marshall (Boise State) and Jahiem Johnson (Tulane).

Unless whoever wins the starting QB job between KJ Jackson and Memphis transfer AJ Hill is a breakout star, it’s hard to imagine the Razorbacks more than doubling last year’s win total. And last year, they had an NFL draft pick at QB in Talen Green. There are very few proven Power 4 starts in Arkansas’ lineup outside of Quincy Rhodes Jr. and Jaden Platt.

Colby Marchio

Here's a smoother version that keeps your tone and lands the ending a bit stronger:

In a rebuilding year under first year head coach Ryan Silverfield, the Razorbacks also draw the third-toughest schedule in the conference. The offense should be better than it was last season, but is that going to be enough to knock off some of the SEC's best, plus Utah in Week 2? I doubt it.

Maybe in year two under Silverfield we can start getting excited about "Woo Pig Sooie" again, but I think this is another year of growing pains for Arkansas.

🔑 Key takeaways

  • So much red in that table: Arkansas has let down Over bettors for most of the previous two decades, going a dismal 3-9-1 O/U on its preseason win total in seasons where odds were widely available. And not by a little, either. The Razorbacks have fallen short by an average of 2.5 wins in the nine seasons in which it has gone under its W total.

  • Bucking the trend: When the Razorbacks have converted the Over, they've done so comfortably, surpassing their totals by 1.5, 2.5 and 1.5 wins, respectively. It's rare for any team to have so few one-win conversions on either side of the number, which makes Arkansas one of the toughest major collegiate programs for books to pin down.

  • Obvious play is obvious: Arkansas hasn't provided much value in its win total results in recent years, with winning odds at -130 or worse in four of its previous six seasons.

How Arkansas win totals are priced

Connecting the dots doesn't get much easier than this.

Given how consistently the Razorbacks have cashed the Under, it comes as no surprise to see the U4.5 carrying significantly worse odds than the Over. And as you might expect, action on the Under has helped push that number into the -200 range at most sportsbooks.

Will the Razorbacks see a new coach bump under Ryan Silverfield? The former Memphis bench boss isn't getting any favors from the schedule, which is always difficult when you play in the SEC but also features a road date in Utah.

Sportsbooks are skeptical of a major bounce-back here, even with home dates vs. Northern Alabama and Tulsa and a road encounter with fellow SEC minnow Vanderbilt.

Did You Know?

Arkansas is one of only two SEC teams (along with Vanderbilt) to have gone winless in conference play four times since 2013.
