They’ve all but played themselves into the NCAA Tournament, but the No. 15 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders will now have to adjust to life without star forward JT Toppin.

Their first test comes Saturday against the Kansas State Wildcats, whose vibes are way up after a head coaching change that has Matt Dricoll now in charge.

While TTU shouldn’t have any issues beating the Wildcats, my Kansas State vs. Texas Tech predictions & college basketball picks have the visitors staying in range as their opponent works to recalibrate on February 21.

Kansas State vs Texas Tech prediction

Kansas State vs Texas Tech best bet: Kansas State +14 (-116)

JT Toppin (knee) was one of only two players in college basketball averaging a 20-10 double-double.

His play inside also left shooters wide open along the perimeter – a big reason why the Texas Tech Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in three-pointers made at a healthy 38.9% clip.

The Kansas State Wildcats are a wild card: after a 1-11 start in Big 12 play, they fired Jerome Tang and proceeded to crush Baylor 90-74.

K-State has owned the cover vs. TTU, going 8-2-0 against the spread in the last 10 matchups – which is all those points are a gift for a wager Saturday.

Our beyond the arc SGP: Under the scope from three

Can Texas Tech’s top three-point marksmen outshoot their problems, namely the loss of the 2025 Big 12 Player of the Year in Toppin?

Christian Anderson has hit four triples twice in his last six games, but now as the de facto top option, if the three is not falling, Anderson will need to dig deeper into his bag to get offense.

Donovan Atwell will be suffering from the same lack of open looks, but he’s been hitting at a better and more consistent rate than his teammate, drilling at least four three-pointers 10 times in his last 14 games.

Kansas State vs Texas Tech SGP

  • Kansas State +14
  • PJ Haggerty Over 22.5 points
  • Nate Johnson Over 3.5 assists
  • Christian Anderson Under 3.5 3-point makes
  • Donovan Atwell Over 3.5 3-point makes
