The New Orleans Pelicans are the worst team in the league and couldn’t play much better than they did on Tuesday... in a losing effort to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

My Timberwolves vs. Pelicans predictions and free NBA picks for Thursday, December 4 call for Minnesota to cover as regression to the mean could be ready to smack New Orleans upside the head.

Timberwolves vs Pelicans prediction

Timberwolves vs Pelicans best bet: Timberwolves -11.5 (-110)

The New Orleans Pelicans announced earlier in the week that leading scorer Zion Williamson will miss at least another three weeks. They are just 2-10 at home, 1-17 against other Western Conference teams, and haven’t beaten a team with a winning record since March 19 of last season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a winning record on the road and have beaten two teams with winning records — Boston and San Antonio — on their current win streak.

New Orleans had a perfect storm when they played the Timberwolves on Tuesday, with six players reaching double-figure scoring and four topping 20 points. Trey Murphy (33 points), Saddiq Bey (21), and Jeremiah Fears (21) all matched their second-best scoring days of the season.

The Pelicans couldn’t have played much better, and they still lost.

Minnesota needed a buzzer-beater by Anthony Edwards to force overtime and escape with a win. The T-Wolves were disappointed with their effort after playing down to their competition. The psychology points to a bounce-back in their second chance on Thursday.

Timberwolves vs Pelicans same-game parlay

New Orleans has gone Over in three of the last four, while Minnesota has gone Over in three straight. However, the T-Wolves went Under in seven straight right before that.

Both teams are in the bottom half of the league in pace. The line is high after both teams combined for nearly 300 points on Tuesday. If New Orleans comes back to Earth and the game doesn’t go to overtime, the point total will be far smaller.

Edwards is blazing hot. He scored 44 points in the first Pelicans game and has topped 30 in each of his last six games.
