Best NBA Player Props Today: Coby White Comes Up Big

Prop bet #1: Haliburton helpers

It's not too often that you see an edge on the Over for an assists prop on the player who leads the NBA in assists per game, so when it shows up, you take it, and that's what we have with Tyrese Haliburton odds on Friday.

Haliburton hasn't been dropping dimes of late like he was earlier in the season. His potential assists are down, only averaging 12.2 over his last five games, compared to the 18 he averages on the season. The assist numbers for Haliburton are down, but so is the total, and with his odds adjusting down to 10.5 (+119) for the Over, I think this is a number we can take advantage of. 

Haliburton will be playing the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, and the Thunder will be without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, while Jalen Williams is also doubtful. That takes two of the best perimeter defenders out of the equation for Haliburton, but I also believe it will allow Rick Carlisle to surround Haliburton with more offense.

If Gilgeous-Alexander were playing, Andrew Nembhard would draw the defensive assignment on Gilgeous-Alexander. With both Williams and Gilgeous-Alexander out, I think we could see more of Obi Toppin for the Pacers. Toppin would give Haliburton a lob threat on the baseline, for when Jalen Smith and his shooting help vacate Chet Holmgren away from the paint. 

The Pacers are coming off one of their worst losses of the season against the Brooklyn Nets and are trying to avoid the Play-In Tournament. I have a solution: increase Haliburton's minutes and get the ball in the hands of your best offensive weapon.

Haliburton is projected to drop 10.9 dimes on Friday against the Thunder, which allows us to price the Over 10.5 assists at -109, but it is available at Pinnacle at +119.

Prop bet #2: White's house

As we come down the stretch of the NBA season, it can become more challenging to project a player's minutes. Night in and night out, teams have different goals at this point in the season. When it comes to Coby White and the Chicago Bulls, the goal is clear: Stay ahead of the Atlanta Hawks in the standings to host the Play-In game.

If you're going to give me a total of 4.5 (+105) for White's assists prop with a level of guarantee on the minutes we should expect to see, I'm betting on that number. Not only do I think White's minutes will be there, but there's a strong chance they could be even higher than the projection, as White has played 39+ minutes in his last three games.

When White faces the New York Knicks on Friday, he should have a relatively easy time getting into the lane and collapsing the defense. The Knicks don't have a point-of-attack defender who can guard White, who has blazing speed. However, one thing with White is that something has to make him pass, otherwise, he will just take a ton of shots.

This is why I like the matchup with the Knicks because while White will be able to expose some of the defenders on the perimeter, the Knicks have rim protection in Isaiah Hartenstein and Mitchell Robinson, which will force passes. It creates a scenario where we could see White constantly looking for shooters and generating a ton of potential assists.

White is projected to have 5.2 assists on Friday against the Knicks, which allows us to price Coby White odds of Over 4.5 assists at -140, but it is available at DraftKings at +105.

Prop bet #3: Stuntin' like my daddy

I dare you to check the injury report for the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday as they take on the Detroit Pistons. The usual suspects are out for the Grizzlies, including Desmond Bane, but now they also have Jaren Jackson Jr., Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke listed as out, and Luke Kennard as doubtful.

Scotty Pippen Jr. odds for his assists prop are being priced as if he's playing 19-21 minutes and the best part is, if he does only play this amount of minutes, we still have an edge on the Over 4.5 assists at -110. The thing is, I don't see how Pippen doesn't get into the high 20s here with his minutes. If Pippen only plays 20 minutes, who is playing for the Grizzlies?

The big one for me here is that Kennard is doubtful for the Grizzlies. This means that Pippen should be on the ball a lot in the minutes that he does play and they will be looking for him to create some offense, which he can do.

Did I mention they're playing against the Detroit Pistons? If he was playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, I could see making the argument that he'd have a hard time creating offense, but this is the Pistons we're talking about. The roster they will field will be equally as bad, and Pippen can create offense for his teammates; he recently had 10 dimes against the Charlotte Hornets.

Pippen is projected to have 5.4 assists on Friday against the Pistons, which allows us to price the Over 4.5 assists at -162, but it is available at DraftKings at -110. Based on this projection, this bet is showing a positive expected value of 18%.
