Luka Doncic and the sizzling Dallas Mavericks are hitting top gear with the playoffs approaching, and they’re riding a seven-game win streak as they take on the Golden State Warriors tonight.

The Mavericks climbed into the No.5 spot after Sunday’s 125-107 victory over the Houston Rockets, with Luka Doncic serving up a 47-point masterpiece as a timely reminder that no one should want to face him in a seven-game series.

The Warriors’ top priority is holding onto the final play-in spot. Four straight wins, including a 117-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on the weekend, has given them breathing room, and it’s enough to make Golden State a slight favorite here in the latest NBA odds.

Mavericks vs Warriors predictions

My best bet: Mavericks moneyline (-105 at bet365)

If Dallas’ recent form carries over to the playoffs, don’t be shocked to wake up in May and find the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. Luka Doncic is that good.

The visitors made a mockery of the Rockets’ 11-game win streak on Sunday, as Doncic got any shot he wanted on the way to 22 points in the first quarter. Dallas never looked back and there’s a growing sense that this is a team peaking at the perfect moment.

I’m buying into the hype and picking the Mavs to stroll into Chase Center and extend their winning run.

Efficient scoring from Luka and Kyrie Irving has been huge for Dallas, but it hasn’t just been a steady diet of shootouts. The Mavs have stepped up defensively too, holding opponents under 110 points in their last seven outings.

They’re 23-14 on the road this season, and I expect the visitors to create major lineup dilemmas for Steve Kerr here. If Golden State leans into its best defensive options, the offense is a concern, and vice versa.

Plus, the Warriors may not be at full strength tonight. Jonathan Kuminga has missed the past three games and is questionable here, while Klay Thompson is probable but could be limited by knee tendinitis.

The potential is always there for a supernova Steph Curry performance, but I like these odds for Doncic and the Mavs to have the last laugh.

Mavericks vs Warriors same-game parlay

Mavericks moneyline

Stephen Curry Over 26.5 points

Daniel Gafford Over 6.5 rebounds

Golden State’s only chance of making some noise in the postseason is if Curry is close to his best. March was a tough month for Steph (42% from the field), but he ended it on a high note with 33 points against the Spurs.

He made seven of his 15 triples to outlast Wemby & Co., and the hosts are going to need Curry’s offense in a big way tonight against the free-scoring Mavs.

Though he’s only reached 27 points in two of his past seven games, I’m counting on Steph to hold his own offensively, with Dallas not exactly known for its perimeter defense.

The Mavs have been a stingier defensive team with Daniel Gafford in the starting group, and he’s certainly had an impact on the glass.

I’m taking the Over on his rebounds prop tonight, with Gafford averaging seven boards per game in March. He’s doing it consistently too, grabbing at least seven rebounds in nine of his last 13 contests.

Mavericks vs Warriors spread and Over/Under analysis

  • Despite being on a 9-1 ATS run, Dallas arrives as a 1-point underdog tonight against a Golden State team that’s 18-19 at Chase Center this season.

  • The Mavs have won both meetings this year, including a 109-99 victory over the Curry-less Warriors on March 13.

  • The visitors have trended towards the Under during their winning run — it’s 8-2 in their last 10 contests — and it’s been a winning ticket in 32 of their past 49 outings.

  • A line of 232.5 reflects the firepower on show, but Golden State had been held to 113 points or fewer in four straight games before an uptick against the Spurs and Charlotte Hornets.
