A Western Conference cellar-dweller showdown is on tap tonight as the Sacramento Kings host the Dallas Mavericks.

With trade rumors swirling, Dallas big man Anthony Davis continues to round into form after missing time late in December.

My Mavericks vs. Kings predictions like “AD” to crash the glass against one of the NBA's weaker rebounding teams. Here are my best NBA picks on Tuesday, January 6.

Mavericks vs Kings prediction

Mavericks vs Kings best bet: Anthony Davis Over 11.5 Rebounds (-115)

Anthony Davis is putting in regular minutes in his last two outings following a two-game hiatus at the end of December.

The veteran center is coming off a stat-stuffing effort against the Houston Rockets, in which he scored 26 points and hauled in 12 rebounds. He’s had two days off to recharge and is ripe for rebound value against the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento is dead last in the NBA in rebound rate (47%), watching opponents wrangle an average of almost 56 boards per contest. The Kings’ frontcourt is already playing without star center Domantas Sabonis and is also missing a major glass cleaner with 6-foot-9 power forward Keegan Murray (6.1 rebs/game) sidelined with an ankle injury.

This game could see an accelerated pace of play, with the Dallas Mavericks moving at the fifth-highest tempo in the NBA, which means more possessions overall – and more rebounding opportunities. Neither team is a solid shooting squad, especially Sacramento, which is hitting at less than 44% from the floor over the last three games.

On the season, Davis averages more than 17 rebounding chances and has posted 12+ boards in seven of his last dozen appearances since the start of December. Tuesday’s NBA player prop projections range from 11 rebounds to closer to 14 boards against Sacramento.
