Knicks vs Pacers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Sunday’s NBA Playoffs Game 3

Given the history of Game 3's throughout this playoff run for the Indiana Pacers, it's been noted as their one of very few weak spots and the New York Knicks will try to take advantage of that to avoid a 0-3 hole.

After a stunning OT win over the New York Knicks in Game 1, the Indiana Pacers came in clutch down the stretch of Game 2 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Heading back to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Game 3, can the Pacers build an insurmountable 3-0 lead, or will the Knicks emerge victorious and live to fight another day?

My Knicks vs. Pacers predictions expect the visiting team to play well with its back against the wall in a high-scoring affair in Indianapolis.

Who will win Knicks vs Pacers Game 3?

After Game 1’s dramatic finish and Game 2’s clutch showing down the stretch, Game 3 screams Pacers, right? Not necessarily.

Indiana has been red hot, but this New York team is too good to get beaten three times in a row. Playing with a renewed level of desperation, I’m picking the Knicks to win this one on the road and avoid a 3-0 deficit.

Knicks vs Pacers prediction

My best bet: Knicks moneyline (+115 at bet365)

We’ve seen this script twice in the playoffs already. Indiana Pacers win Games 1 and 2, Pacers get blown out in Game 3, Pacers win Games 4 and 5 to complete the gentleman's sweep. By no means am I predicting a five-game series win for Indiana. I am, however, picking the New York Knicks to win Game 3 with their backs against the wall.

No team in NBA playoff history has come back from a 3-0 series deficit, so the Knicks will treat this one like it’s a Game 7 and come out with their hair on fire. Games 1 and 2 were winnable contests, and the Knicks should be the more motivated team in this matchup after dropping both at Madison Square Garden.

Both teams have been better on the road than at home during this playoff run. The Knicks are 3-5 straight up and ATS at home and 5-1 straight up and ATS on the road. The Pacers are 3-2 ATS and 4-1 straight up at home and 6-1 ATS and straight up on the road. The Knicks are +2.3 per game at home but just -2.5 per game on the road, despite a winning record. All five of the Knicks’ road wins have come by three points or fewer, showing that Jalen Brunson and Co. can come in clutch away from Madison Square Garden.

The Pacers lost Game 3 of their first-round series with Milwaukee by 16, and they lost Game 3 against Cleveland by 22 after going up 2-0. This is a let-down spot for Indiana and a must-win for New York. Expect the desperate road team to come out hot and keep its playoff hopes alive with a victory. I’ll take the underdogs on the ML for plus-money odds.

Knicks vs Pacers same-game parlay

Knicks moneyline

Over 223.5

Mitchell Robinson Over 12.5 points & rebounds

The Knicks have gone 4-4-1 to the Over across their last nine games, while the Pacers have gone 6-3 in that span. After going for just 215 combined points in Game 1 of the first-round series against Milwaukee, the Pacers have finished with a Game Total Over 223.5 in four straight home games.

The Knicks have reached that point total in three of six on the road this postseason. The Pacers and Knicks combined for 223 points in Game 2 to finish just one point below the 224 point total, bringing the record to 5-2 to the Over across the last seven head-to-head matchups. I expect another high-scoring affair in Game 3 as two prolific offenses clash.

Mitchell Robinson averaged just two points and five rebounds across 15.8 minutes over the first four games of the postseason. Over the Knicks’ last 10 games, Robinson has been afforded additional minutes, averaging five points and seven boards across 21 minutes per tilt. In that span, Robinson has hit the Over on this line five times and racked up exactly 12 PR once more.

The backup big man has been phenomenal on the offensive glass in the Eastern Conference Finals, totaling eight points and 17 boards, while pulling down eight offensive rebounds. He logged 21 minutes in Game 1 but finished with 29 minutes in Game 2 to Karl-Anthony Towns’ 28 and posted six points and nine boards. His playing time in Friday’s loss marked his second-most minutes of the season.

I’ll bet on Robinson to stay heavily involved in New York’s rotation for Game 3, and I’ll take the Over here.
