Favorites to win the Cook Out Southern 500

With the superspeedway race in his rear-view, Kyle Larson assumes pole position on the odds board, sitting as a +300 favorite for the Cook Out Southern 500. Larson has been dominant in the circuit this year, and should begin the playoffs with a strong showing as the Cup Series odds favorite.

Second on the odds board is Martin Truex Jr. at +500. Truex has only one finish better than 10th in his last five races, but won this race in 2016, so he's proven his mettle.

Sitting in third is Kyle Busch, another past champ (2008), with +600 odds. Busch has had mixed results over the past six weeks, but his overall summer results have been hotter than just about anyone this side of Larson.

The Top 5 is rounded out by two-time Cook Out winner Denny Hamlin (+700) and defending Cup Series champion Chase Elliott (+850).

How to bet on NASCAR

The most popular way to bet on NASCAR is by simply picking the winner of a race, which is also referred to as an outright. There are plenty of other ways to wager, including betting on whether or not a driver will finish in the Top 3 or Top 10 of a race.

Another popular betting option is head-to-head matchup betting, where sportsbooks pair up two drivers and you choose who you think will finish better in the race, which is far easier than trying to select someone to win out of a field of approximately 40 drivers.
