The Kansas City Royals’ offense was on full display Saturday, scoring 11 runs in a blowout victory against Minnesota.
My Twins vs. Royals predictions see the bats making plenty of noise once again, with Bobby Witt Jr. leading the charge. Let’s take a closer look at my September 7 MLB picks.
Twins vs Royals prediction
Twins vs Royals best bet: Bobby Witt Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (-135)
Bobby Witt Jr. has seen a lot of Bailey Ober as AL Central division foes. The head-to-head matchup has consistently played out with Witt Jr. winning.
Kansas City’s star shortstop has absolutely torched Ober, going 12-for-28 with a .429 batting average and .321 ISO.
There’s no reason to expect that to change this time around as Ober is currently going through the worst season of his career. He owns a 5.23 ERA and has not been able to keep the ball in the park, allowing 29 homers through 124 innings of work.
Witt Jr. also profiles very well against Ober’s pitch mix, owning ISOs above .220 vs. three of his four most-utilized pitches when facing right-handed hitters.
Expect Witt Jr. to make plenty of noise against a struggling starter and a depleted bullpen following a trade deadline sell-off.
Twins vs Royals same-game parlay (SGP)
Vinnie Pasquantino has been an RBI machine in recent weeks, driving in 18 runners over his last 18 games. The fun should continue on Sunday afternoon.
Pasquantino has a great track record against Ober, excels against his go-to pitch (the fastball), and Witt Jr. is likely to get on base a couple of times in front of him.
Although the Royals look to be in the better spot offensively, Byron Buxton should have a say for the Twins.
He has recorded multiple bases in six of his last seven games and is fantastic against the sinker-slider combination Michael Lorenzen leans on heavily.
