The MLB season is in full swing and with it all the betting markets that we’ve come to love/hate. This article will try to find some of MLB’s best props and side bets for the day and does all the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. If there’s a line on it, we’ll look into it.

Today, we’re backing the bats of the Blue Jays, looking for a revenge plotline in Houston and finding a great spot for a three-innings line.

Check out our favorite MLB free prop bets and predictions for Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Blue Jays Team Total Over 4.5 (-118)

The Toronto Blue Jays are running the league’s best offense over the last month with a 122 +wRC. They’re sporting a .813 OPS which is tops in the Majors, as well as a .351 wOBA which paces the league. The Jays have three players in the Top 10 in fantasy over the last 30 days in Marcus Semien (eight home runs and a 1.059 OPS) Vladimir Guerrero (nine home runs and a 1.053 OPS) and Teoscar Hernandez (six home runs and a .967 OPS). Add in Bo Bichette in the No. 2 hole and these are the best first-four batters in any lineup right now.

The Blue Birds’ bats will face Cleveland left-hander Sam Hentges Saturday afternoon. The 24-year-old pitcher has given up nine runs over his last six-plus innings of work and owns a near 2.00 WHIP. The Jays piled on 11 runs against the Tribe in the series opener yesterday and have topped the team total of 4.5 in 15 of their last 27 games (56 percent).

The Jays will start Ross Stripling, which has us shying away from a first-five play on the visitors (-130), as Stripling has been inconsistent with great starts followed by mediocre ones. We like the Jays’ bats to stay hot and feast on a rookie pitcher who has surrendered 15 runs across 20 innings.

Yu Darvish – Pitcher to record the win – YES (-115)

San Diego’s Yu Darvish has dropped his ERA and WHIP in four consecutive starts, and he currently owns an amazing 1.75 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP. He has walked away with a victory in four of his last six starts and is coming off back-to-back seven-inning performances where he allowed just one total run. The Japanese hurler will have a chance to better these ridiculous numbers as he faces his nemesis in the Houston Astros Saturday afternoon.

Since the Astros rocked him in the 2017 World series using questionable methods, Darvish has yet to be given a chance for revenge...until today.

The Padres rolled into Houston last night with a 14-3 SU record in their last 17 and slammed the cheaters 10-3 in the opener thanks to an eight-run 11th. The Astros’ bullpen threw seven innings and might be called on again Saturday with Jake Odorizzi and his 10.13 ERA starting for the home side.

Odorizzi will be making his first start since April 24 due to injury and has given up nine runs in his seven-plus innings of work this season. The Friars are a -145 road favorite but Darvish is paying -115 to pick up the win. Without the cheating, Houston might have a little more difficult time against one of the league’s best pitchers.

Cardinals First Three Inning -0.5 (+110)

Arizona’s Seth Frankoff, to put it nicely, is working through some things this season. The right-hander has not found his footing since returning from the Korean Baseball Organization and has allowed seven runs in his two starts in 2021 (8 1-3 innings). His biggest problem has been getting settled early.

It’s a small sample size, but in Frankoff’s first 25 pitches, opponents have an insane 1.445 OPS against the pitcher, while players are hitting .457 against him through the first time in the order. In yesterday’s first inning, the Cardinals picked up four runs on two hits and two walks off Madison Bumgarner. St. Louis has some great table-setters at the top of the order and some thunder in the middle.

With a competent Adam Wainwright getting the ball for the Cards, we love Saturday’s primetime spot for another good early showing. We’re giving ourselves and the STL bats a couple of innings to get on the board and get to Frankoff before the fourth inning. Our quick and dirty prop sits at 3-1 on the year.
