It’s a jam-packed slate for tonight, while we also have a couple of afternoon contests on the schedule. My MLB player props will feature a lefty from the Big Apple, one of the Toronto Blue Jays’ best hitters, and the ace of the Cincinnati Reds' staff.
Let’s get right into my plays for Wednesday, July 9.

Our 3 best MLB player props for Wednesday, July 9
George Springer Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at BetMGM)
The Toronto Blue Jays are the hottest team in baseball at the moment, winning 10 games in a row and taking a commanding lead at the top of the American League East above the New York Yankees.
George Springer has certainly done his part overall this season, but especially during the win streak. The veteran is batting .424 in July with five home runs and 13 RBI.
He’s cashed the Over in total bases in six of his eight appearances this month. All of those games were multi-hit outings, too.
On Tuesday, Springer finished 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of walks as Toronto took down the lowly Chicago White Sox. They will face them again today, and Springer will be liking the matchup on the hill.
The Sox send Adrian Houser to the bump, and Springer is 2-for-5 lifetime against him.
The outfielder is swinging the bat with authority, and six of his 14 hits in July have been for extra bases. Whether it’s another multi-hit game, Springer showing his gap-to-gap power, or putting one in the bleachers, my MLB picks expect him to keep it rolling offensively.

David Peterson Under 2.5 earned runs (-128 at Caesars)
David Peterson is having a solid campaign for the New York Mets, pitching to a 6-4 record and a 3.18 ERA in 17 starts. He’s only allowed seven home runs, and hitters are batting just .242. The southpaw has definitely been one of Carlos Mendoza’s most reliable arms.
Peterson had a few difficult outings to finish off June, allowing Over 2.5 earned runs in all three starts. But he got back to his dominance last time out against the Milwaukee Brewers, allowing just one earned run across 6 2/3 innings of work.
He’s cashed the Under in earned runs surrendered in 12 of his 17 appearances in 2025. Peterson is typically consistent.
Tonight, he’ll face a mediocre Baltimore Orioles lineup, and he’s held them to a .258 average across 31 at-bats. He tossed seven innings of two-run baseball last season versus Baltimore.

Andrew Abbott Under 2.5 earned runs (-120 at DraftKings)
Andrew Abbott is truly having a career campaign for the Reds. The right-hander has gone 7-1 with a 2.15 ERA in 15 starts, holding opponents to a mere .220 average.
Abbott is consistent every fifth day and has emerged as one of the best in the sport at his craft.
The right-hander had a bit of a tough outing last time out, giving up four earned runs to the Philadelphia Phillies. But before that, he cashed the Under in earned runs allowed in four consecutive appearances.
He’ll take on the Miami Marlins tonight, and although he was tagged for 11 earned in two starts against them last season, there’s reason to believe he’ll dominate.
Abbott’s ERA sits at 2.13 at home, and the Marlins aren’t exactly an elite offensive team.
Sure, they scored 12 runs on Tuesday, but that’s a rarity. I do believe Abbott will bring his best and help the Reds get back on track here. He’ll turn the tables on his past struggles versus Miami.
