The weather is heating up, and only two of today’s games feature totals below 8.5 runs, meaning we should see plenty of offense on the diamond.

With that in mind, let’s break down a few hitters worth targeting with my MLB player props for June 4.

Best MLB player props today

MLB props for June 4

Cody Bellinger Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130 at DraftKings)

The alarm bells are going off for Cleveland Guardians starter Luis Ortiz against left-handed bats. He’s posted bad underlying metrics against lefties all season long, and they’ve gotten progressively worse.

He has thrown more balls than strikes to lefties over the last month. He’s also allowed an absurdly high 21.6% barrel rate, 6.15 expected ERA, and has allowed line drives at a well above average clip. Put simply, he’s given up a ton of good, hard contact.

Ortiz primarily throws fastballs, sliders, and sinkers. That pitch mix plays nicely into the hands of Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger is hitting .273 with a 20.6% barrel rate against those three pitches over the past month. He’s hitting for average and, as usual, a lot of power to boot.

This is a nice matchup for him to make noise at the plate.

Wyatt Langford Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-120 at DraftKings)

Shane Baz has given up a ton of production to right-handed bats this season, allowing righties to hit .270 with an .855 OPS and 15.9% barrel rate.

Things haven’t gotten any better of late. Since May 1, Baz has allowed a 1.084 OPS, 17.1% barrel rate, and walked more batters than he’s struck out. That’s never a good sign.

Wyatt Langford hasn’t had the season anyone hoped or expected, but his game is trending in the right direction, especially against what Baz throws. He owns a .281 expected average and 63% hard hit rate against Baz’s two primary pitches over the last month.

Given Baz’s struggles against righties, Langford’s improved play, and the return of Corey Seager, which raises the floor and ceiling of the Texas Rangers' offense – there is a lot to like about Langford in this spot

Tyler Soderstrom Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115 at bet365)

Zebby Matthews is a wild card on the mound. He strikes out a ton of batters, but he also gives up a lot of hits, particularly to left-handed bats.

Lefties are hitting .310 against him since he returned to the Minnesota Twins rotation. They’ve posted a whopping 40% line drive rate to boot. We’re still dealing with small samples, but those are concerning numbers, to put it mildly.

Tyler Soderstrom profiles better than anybody on the Athletics to exploit Matthews’ weaknesses. He’s a lefty who downright dominates against Matthews’ go-to pitches.

Matthews leans heavily on the fastball/slider combination. Isolating those two pitches thrown by righties, Soderstrom is hitting .375 on the year with a barrel rate above 20%.

Hitting in the cleanup spot, Soderstrom should be able to get on base and drive in a run or two in this matchup.
