We have a jam-packed night of baseball ahead of us as all 30 major league teams are scheduled to take the field.
There is no shortage of plays that pop off the page on what is a truly loaded board on Tuesday night.
Let’s zero in on a few of my favorite MLB player props for June 3.
Best MLB player props today
Yusei Kikuchi Over 17.5 pitching outs (+100 at DraftKings)
Aaron Judge Over 1.5 total bases (-120 at DraftKings)
Kyle Schwarber Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115 at Bet365)
MLB props for June 3
Yusei Kikuchi Over 17.5 pitching outs (+100 at DraftKings)
Yusei Kikuchi has recorded at least 17 outs in eight of 12 starts this season, including six of seven on the road. He hasn’t dominated the way he did last year, and yet he’s still found a way to effectively chew up innings each time out. The Los Angeles Angels will need him to do just that again on Tuesday as their bullpen is taxed.
Jack Kochanowicz lasted only 3.2 innings against the Guardians on Sunday, while Tyler Anderson didn’t fare much better against the Boston Red Sox last night, going only 4.1 innings. That’s only eight of a possible 18 innings pitched from the starters over the past couple of games, putting a lot of stress on the bullpen.
Kikuchi has had a long leash of late, throwing an average of 98 pitches over his last five games. He should be given that kind of opportunity again in this one, as the Angels need him to preserve the bullpen.
The matchup is fairly strong as well. The Red Sox have hit grounders at an above-average rate, struck out at an above-average rate, and made contact at a below-average rate against left-handed pitchers this season.
They are not a team that should slug Kikuchi out of this game before he at least flirts with six innings.
Aaron Judge Over 1.5 total bases (-120 at DraftKings)
Tanner Bibee has a wide array of pitches in his arsenal. He threw four different pitches at least 15% of the time in his last start, showcasing his versatility and all the ways he feels comfortable attacking opposing hitters.
Unfortunately for Bibee, Aaron Judge has dominated against that pitch mix all season long. Isolating the four most used pitches from Bibee – four-seamer, changeup, cutter, and sweeper – Judge is hitting .402 on the season with a remarkable 24.2% barrel rate.
Judge isn’t just getting on base at a sky-high rate; he’s also hitting for insane power. Judge is averaging 2.9 total bases per game and has cleared this line at a 66% clip.
He also hasn’t gone more than two straight home games, which is his current drought, without a couple of bases all season long.
Bibee is a good pitcher, but Judge is one of the best hitters of all time. Expect that talent gap to shine through Tuesday night.
Kyle Schwarber Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115 at Bet365)
Bowden Francis struggles mightily against left-handed hitters. He has allowed a .283 average, .962 OPS, 14.3% barrel rate, and 12 homers to lefties this season. Those are astronomically high numbers across the board.
Francis throws a ton of four-seamers with the splitter as his favorite alternative pitch. To say Kyle Schwarber excels against those two would be an understatement.
Schwarber is hitting .283 with a .352 expected average and 67.4% hard hit rate against righties throwing either of those pitches.
He possesses insane power, and the splits are working greatly in his favor against someone who has struggled to limit power to lefties all season long.
Don’t be surprised if Schwarber clears this number with one good swing.
Odds are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change.
