Yusei Kikuchi has been impressive in his first season with the Angels, and we expect the Japanese southpaw to lead them to a win over the Mariners tonight.

A light MLB slate is on tap, as it’s a travel day for the majority of teams around the league.

However, that doesn’t mean value can’t be found — and we’ve searched high and low to uncover the best MLB player props.

I break down all my favorite spots in our free MLB picks for Thursday, July 24.

Best MLB player props today

  • Blue Jays Bichette u1.5 total bases (-120)
  • Athletics Kurtz o0.5 walks (+100)
  • Angels Kikuchi to record a win (+165)

Our 3 best MLB player props for Thursday, July 24

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Bo Bichette Under 1.5 total bases (-120 at DraftKings)

Bo Bichette has struggled against Reese Olson, entering this game with a lifetime .143 batting average across seven plate appearances — and an expected batting average that’s even worse.

Olson’s season has been a mixed bag, but he’s continued to do a few key things well — the same strengths he’s shown throughout his career. The Detroit Tigers starter has done an excellent job limiting barrels (top 20% in MLB) and ranks in the top 18% in whiff rate, consistently inducing swings and misses.

These strengths align well with Bichette’s weaknesses. Despite his solid barrel rate, the Toronto Blue Jays shortstop continues to struggle with plate discipline.

While he’s made strides in lowering his whiff rate, his chase rate remains among the highest in the league. I expect Olson to exploit that tonight.

Nick Kurtz Under 0.5 walks (+100 at bet365)

My projections make the fair price closer to -120, offering clear value.

Houston Astros right-hander Jason Alexander has had a rough year in various roles — one start and several relief appearances — resulting in an ERA over 8.00 and a walk rate that ranks among the worst 5% in the league.

Nick Kurtz enters this game with the best walk rate among A’s hitters and has plate discipline metrics that support a patient approach. Given Alexander’s struggles and Kurtz’s profile, getting this at +100 is too good to pass up.

Yusei Kikuchi to record a win (+165 at bet365)

Yusei Kikuchi takes the mound for the Los Angeles Angels tonight and finds himself in a strong position to earn a win.

The lefty is enjoying a bounce-back season and has been especially dominant at home. In five starts at Angel Stadium, he’s 4-1 with a sub-2.00 ERA and has gone deep enough in each outing to qualify for the win.

Kikuchi's strikeout rate sits around 25% and has been trending upward lately. That bodes well against a Seattle Mariners team that ranks in the top 5 in strikeout rate vs. lefties.

Meanwhile, Logan Evans' poor barrel and hard-hit rates could spell trouble against a power-heavy Angels lineup. The supporting factors are in place for Kikuchi to earn the W.
