Our 3 best MLB player props for Friday, July 18

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Oneil Cruz Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-141 at Caesars)

Oneil Cruz found his game prior to All-Star week, clearing his H+R+R line in four of his final five appearances before the break.

He then put on a show at the Home Run Derby, showcasing the insane power and bat speed he possesses while launching missles. Suffice to say, he should be feeling pretty good about himself beginning the unofficial second half of the season.

Cruz finds himself at home against a right-handed starter, which has been a formula for success all season long. Cruz has averaged 2.1 H+R+R and gone over his line in 59% of his games under such circumstances.

Jonathan Cannon has also had a hard time against left-handed bats, allowing a .273 average, .844 OPS, and a hard hit rate above 50%. Each of those numbers are higher than what he’s put forth against righties. The splits are working in Cruz’s favor from both sides of this matchup.

Rafael Devers Over 1.5 total bases (+135 at bet365)

Chris Bassitt has been tough on righties this season, holding them to a .242 average and very little power. Right-handed batters own an ISO of just .098 against Bassitt.

It’s a much different story when facing lefties. Bassitt’s conceded a .294 batting average and a .191 ISO, giving up a much higher average and more than double the amount of homers.

That should play into the hands of Rafael Devers, who has an outstanding track record against both Bassitt and the Blue Jays.

Devers has taken 17 at-bats against Bassitt over the last couple of seasons. He’s hit safely in eight of them and recorded three homers along the way.

He has also generated at least two total bases in four of the last five against the Blue Jays overall. Given they frequently played when Devers was playing in the AL East, those numbers are more meaningful.

Devers was quiet heading into the All-Star break, but don’t be surprised if that changes on Friday night.

Wenceel Perez Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (+100 at BetMGM)

Wenceel Perez is a menace when facing left-handed pitchers. He is hitting .357 with a .507 wOBA, 1.255 OPS, and a 21.7% barrel rate against southpaws, leading the Tigers comfortably in each of those categories.

Perez has also performed extremely well away from Comerica Park. He has averaged 2.4 H+R+R and recorded multiple in 11 of 17 road games, good for a 65% success rate.

He has an advantageous matchup Friday night against Patrick Corbin. The veteran lefty has given up a .317 average and .838 OPS to right-handed hitters when playing in Texas. He has really struggled.

In fact, Kyle Freeland and Lucas Giolito are the only projected starters today who’ve allowed a higher home average vs. righties.
