The Chicago White Sox might be one of the worst teams in MLB history, but don't let that detract from the season that left-handed ace Garrett Crochet is having.

Find out why I'm backing Crochet and Padres slugger Jake Cronenworth, while fading Freddy Peralta with my three favorite MLB picks and player props for July 6.

Best MLB bets today

Prop bet #1: Fading Freddy

While Freddy Peralta is a talented pitcher, a tough matchup awaits the Milwaukee Brewers starter. The right-hander is set to face the Los Angeles Dodgers' vaunted lineup, and even with Mookie Betts on the IL, they've continued to chase starters early.

Peralta does a good job of generating whiffs but he tends to throw a lot of pitches and often has a pitch count nearing 100 after just five innings. The O/U on his outs today is set at 17.5, a number he has failed to reach in nine of his last 13 starts.

This is a five-star prop play according to THE BAT X, which is projecting 15.9 outs for Peralta today. That projection also takes into account that the Brewers have a subpar pitch framer in catcher Eric Haase and a hitter-friendly umpire in Edwin Moscoso.

Freddy Peralta prop: Under 17.5 outs (+115 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #2: Southpaw Swagger

Garrett Crochet is finally living up to expectations for the Chicago White Sox

The 11th pick overall in the 2020 draft, Crochet missed the entire 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery, but his heater is back to 97 mph and he's dominating opposing batters. Over his last 12 starts, Crochet has pitched to a sizzling 1.63 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP and an OBA of .182.

Today, Crochet is facing a Miami Marlins lineup that ranks second-last in the majors in runs per game (3.48) and last in OPS (.628). They've been even worse against southpaws like Crochet, batting .224 with an OPS of .598.

The O/U on Crochet's earned runs allowed is set at just 1.5, but he's gone below that number in eight of 11 starts since the beginning of May.

Garret Crochet prop: Under 1.5 earned runs (-125 at bet365)

Prop bet #3: Now entering the Crone Zone

Jake Cronenworth is putting together a solid season for the San Diego Padres, slashing .261/.329/.436 and leading the team with 18 doubles while ranking second in RBI (53). Tonight, Cronenworth and the Padres are facing Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt.

Pfaadt owns a 4.28 ERA through 17 starts, with that number bumping up to 5.08 on the road. Cronenworth has also mashed against Pfaadt in his career, going 6-for-12 at the plate.

The left-handed Cronenworth thrives with the platoon advantage, slashing .286 /.352/.511 against righties while slugging an impressive .509 at home. With the Padres second-baseman recording more than 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI in nine of his last 12 games, take the Over tonight.

Jake Cronenworth prop: Over 1.5 total hits, runs, and RBI (-120 at bet365)
