Expert MLB moneyline picks for July 25
Marlins vs Brewers: Brewers (-230)
We rode with the Milwaukee Brewers in all three games vs. the Seattle Mariners, so we aren't getting off the wagon as they return home to face the lowly Miami Marlins.
Freddy Peralta is legit, and the Brewers' offense is scorching hot.
Diamondbacks vs Pirates: Diamondbacks (-126)
Ryne Nelson gets the ball for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are slowly falling out of playoff contention.
A trip to Pittsburgh should be what the doctor ordered, as the Pirates are struggling and throwing out a spot starter in Mike Burrows.
Rockies vs Orioles: Orioles (-198)
I generally like betting against the Baltimore Orioles, but with the lowly Colorado Rockies coming to town, I have to take the lesser of two bad teams.
Dean Kremer has been better of late, giving up more than one run in only one of his last six starts. That's enough for the O's to pick up the win.
Phillies vs Yankees: Phillies (+136)
I'll never stop thinking the New York Yankees are an overrated ball club.
They make tons of minor-league mistakes, and even at home, I don't think they should be favored over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Take the better team at a plus-money price.
Dodgers vs Red Sox: Dodgers (-122)
The Los Angeles Dodgers aren't exactly playing great baseball right now, but a trip to Fenway Park should bring their bats to life.
Brayan Bello has been hittable all year long, and I expect the Dodgers to get to him early and often.
Rays vs Reds: Reds (-104)
The Cincinnati Reds are coming off a 5-0 shutout win over the Nationals, and I expect that momentum to carry into this game with Nick Martinez on the bump.
They are solid at home, and Zack Littell doesn't have elite putaway stuff.
Blue Jays vs Tigers: Blue Jays (-116)
Until the Detroit Tigers start scoring runs consistently, they will be a play-against team for me. The Blue Jays are right in the thick of the race for the No.1 spot in the AL (alongside the Tigers), so there will be no mail-in games for them.
Add in the fact that the Jays will have the pitching edge with Jose Berrios taking on Keider Montero, and I like the Jays here at a near pick-em price.
Padres vs Cardinals: Padres (-142)
Any bet you can make against Miles Mikolas is a good bet.
The San Diego Padres will have Nick Pivetta on the mound, and he's been solid all year.
This may be my favorite pick of the night.
Cubs vs White Sox: Cubs (-186)
The Chicago Cubs are the better team.
Braves vs Rangers: Rangers (-166)
Nathan Eovaldi should get the start in this game, and that will make a world of difference for the Texas Rangers.
Guardians vs Royals: Guardians (-102)
I'll take the team that has been slightly better at the plate, considering the Kansas City Royals are trotting out Michael Wacha.
Athletics vs Astros: Astros (-158)
No bet against the A's is a bad bet.
Nationals vs Twins: Nationals (+120)
Although the Minnesota Twins looked good at times vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, their offense still leaves a lot to be desired.
I expect MacKenzie Gore to dominate this matchup.
Mariners vs Angels: Mariners (-132)
The Seattle Mariners ran into a buzzsaw in their last series and now get to take on a weak Los Angeles Angels side that's trending downwards.
Bryan Woo gives the M's the pitching advantage, and the offense should be able to take Jose Soriano for a ride.
Mets vs Giants: Giants (-138)
This should go down as a pitcher's duel, but I'll give the edge to the San Francisco Giants and Logan Webb.
Webb has had the better and more consistent season to date, and I see the Giants building off of taking two of three from the Braves.
