The Seattle Mariners are one of the hottest teams in the majors, owning a 9-1 record over the last 10 while scoring 5.5 runs per game.

My Mariners vs. Orioles predictions expect the road side to continue their surge offensively, with Jorge Polanco playing a key role.

Let’s take a closer look at my August 12 MLB picks.

Mariners vs Orioles prediction

Mariners vs Orioles best bet: Jorge Polanco Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at bet365)

Jorge Polanco has hit right-handed pitching well this season. He owns a respectable .250 average and has generated real power, sporting a .225 ISO against righties.

That power should come to light in a matchup against Dean Kremer. He has given up a lot of power to left-handed hitters, conceding 1.40 homers per nine innings while allowing barrels and flyballs at a noticeably higher rate than when facing right-handed bats.

Also working in Polanco’s favor is Kremer’s pitch mix. He throws a lot of fastballs and has conceded a .267 ISO on that pitch against left-handed bats. Meanwhile, Polanco has eight homers against the fastball vs. righties this season.

Polanco is in strong form against Kremer’s entire arsenal. Isolating the pitches Kremer throws, Polanco leads the Seattle Mariners in average exit velocity over his last 15 at bats.

Not a huge sample size, sure, but that’s no small feat on a team possessing power bats like Cal Raleigh, Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor, and a scorching hot Julio Rodriguez.

Polanco has only faced Kremer four times but has taken him yard. Don’t be surprised if he gets ahold of one again.

Mariners vs Orioles same-game parlay (SGP)

Jorge Polanco Over 1.5 total bases

Gunnar Henderson Over 1.5 total bases

Over 8.5

Gunnar Henderson leads the Baltimore Orioles in average (.310), wOBA (.397), and SLG% (0.533) against right-handed pitching.

He also owns a fantastic track record against George Kirby, who allows a lot more power to lefties, hitting safely in six of 13 at bats thus far.

The Mariners are red-hot offensively, having scored at least four runs in nine of the last 10.

If lefties like Henderson and Jackson Holliday cause Kirby some problems, this game could soar over the number.
