HR Prop #1: Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani is sitting on the doorstep of 50 bombs, smacking 48 while driving in 91. The Japanese phenom is hitting .345 in September with three homers already, which includes a two-home run game over the weekend against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue a series with the Colorado Rockies tonight, and Ohtani will be excited for the matchup against Kyle Freeland. Ohtani is 6-for-8 lifetime against him with a pair of long balls. Plus, he’s already gone deep five times this season versus Colorado.
Ohtani has 12 homers off left-handed pitchers and has left the yard 25 times at Dodger Stadium.
HR Prop #2: Matt Chapman
Matt Chapman is having a respectable campaign for the San Francisco Giants, hitting .242 with 21 home runs. He’s enjoyed a torrid start to September, batting .400 with three round-trippers. Chapman just homered on Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he’s facing them again tonight.
Eduardo Rodriguez takes the hill for the D-Backs, and Chapman is 7-for-18 lifetime against him with four doubles and a homer. Although he’s cranked just three bombs off lefties, that’s a small sample size of 89 at-bats.
E-Rod has allowed 21 long balls this year in 25 starts, including 17 to right-handed batters.
HR Prop #3: Yordan Alvarez
Yordan Alvarez may have been injured for much of the campaign, but we can’t forget the type of power he possesses. The big Cuban smacked 30+ homers in four straight seasons leading up to 2025, so he’s always a threat to leave the ballpark in a hurry.
The Houston Astros face Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios tonight, and Alvarez has had some success against him, going 3-for-16 with a pair of home runs. Perhaps not the best average, but he’s shown power versus the righty.
Alvarez has been destroying opposing arms in September. He’s hitting .516 with two round-trippers, and just went 3-for-5 in Tuesday’s loss to the Jays.
