HR picks for July 2
Bryce Harper (+340 at DraftKings)
I had Bryce Harper for this exact pick on Tuesday but the Phillies’ matchup with the Padres was rained out. Today, the two will meet in a doubleheader, and I’m eyeing Harper to go deep once again in Game 1 as Nick Pivetta takes the hill.
This is just Harper’s second game back but he has a track record of success against Pivetta, going 4-for-13 lifetime with a pair of home runs. Harper has just nine bombs on the year, but as we know, the ball travels a long, long way when he gets a hold of one.
The slugger is hitting over .300 at Citizens Bank Park in 2025 with four homers. Pivetta has surrendered 11 bombs in 16 starts this season and has given up three across his last three outings alone. Harper could return home with a bang.
Kyle Schwarber (+265 at DraftKings)
To be clear, this pick is for Padres vs. Phillies Game 2 today. The Phils will be up against Dylan Cease in the second contest this evening, and Kyle Schwarber is one hitter in the lineup who loves to face the struggling righty. He’s 3-for-7 lifetime with two home runs.
Schwarber is a monster offensively and has already left the yard 25 times this season. Thirteen of his long balls are off right-handed hurlers, and he’s also smacked 12 homers at home in 2025. Cease is prone to the long ball at times, giving up 10 in 17 starts.
No. 26 of the year could be on its way tonight for Schwarber.
Aaron Judge (+215 at DraftKings)
I also had Aaron Judge in Tuesday’s picks, but he didn’t go deep. That being said, the reigning AL MVP winner did have a busy day, going 2-for-2 with three walks and a double, and I’m expecting him to stay hot again.
He’s very familiar with Jose Berrios, going 14-for-37 lifetime with five home runs. The Yankees superstar has two bombs in his last three contests and continues to swing it well lately. He’s already left the yard once against the Blue Jays this season as well.
Twenty of his 30 homers are off right-handers, and his success from a power standpoint hasn’t wavered on the road as he’s smacked 15 bombs away from the Bronx. Judge should do damage versus Berrios, and that could very well include homer No. 31.
