HR picks for July 29
Giancarlo Stanton (+275 at DraftKings)
Giancarlo Stanton is the man the New York Yankees will be relying on to produce power with Aaron Judge sidelined. While he hasn’t been in the lineup long since returning from the IL, Stanton has swung the bat well, hitting .275 with seven long balls in just 102 at-bats.
That includes three round-trippers in his last six appearances. He’ll face Joe Boyle of the Tampa Bay Rays tonight, and Stanton has smacked six of his home runs off right-handed pitchers. Also, five of his bombs have come at Yankee Stadium, the site of tonight's game.
Stanton has a four-game hitting streak, with two homers during that span. He’s finding a groove.
Cal Raleigh (+175 at DraftKings)
Sometimes, the HR Derby can mess up a player’s swing, but that certainly hasn’t been the case for this year's derby winner. Cal Raleigh continues to light it up, sitting at 41 home runs for the season, going deep three times since the All-Star break.
Raleigh has two round-trippers in his last three appearances and has collected at least one hit in eight straight. The Seattle Mariners face the Athletics this evening, who send the struggling Luis Severino to the hill. Raleigh is 2-for-6 lifetime versus him with a bomb.
Severino has surrendered 13 homers in 22 starts, and Raleigh has hit 25 of his bombs off right-handed pitchers.
Xander Bogaerts (+600 at DraftKings)
Xander Bogaerts has had a special ability to hit for average. He’s never shown a ton of consistent power throughout his career, but he has slugged 33 long balls in a season before. While that was in 2019, he’s still got some pop.
Bogaerts has seven bombs this year and just homered on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was 3-for-5 on Monday against the New York Mets with a double, and heads into tonight’s clash with seven hits in his last four.
The veteran will face Sean Manaea, whom he’s lit up in the past, going 7-for-15 with two doubles and a home run. He’s also hitting .311 off lefties with two long balls in 2025.
