HR picks for July 22

Giancarlo Stanton (+245 at DraftKings)

Giancarlo Stanton missed a big chunk of this season due to injury, but he’s still one of the most powerful hitters in the big leagues.

The veteran has five home runs over 81 at-bats while hitting .284. While the power output could be better, he’s still capable of putting one in the bleachers at any given moment.

Stanton will be liking tonight’s matchup. The Yankees will be looking to end the Blue Jays’ 11-game home winning streak as Toronto sends Max Scherzer to the hill. Stanton is 7-for-27 lifetime against Scherzer, and four of those hits have been bombs.

Four of his homers this year are off right-handed hurlers, and Scherzer has allowed five home runs in just five outings this season. He gave up two long balls in his last outing against the lowly Athletics, too.

Jose Altuve (+600 at DraftKings)

The odds seem quite steep for Jose Altuve, don’t they?

Even though he has 17 home runs this year, Altuve has gone deep just once in his last 10 contests. He’ll be up against Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez this evening, and Altuve is 9-for-27 lifetime with a pair of long balls in this matchup, so there’s a track record of success here.

Altuve may have just three bombs off left-handed hurlers while hitting .218 off southpaws, but the Venezuelan is heating up. He's had three multi-hit games in his last six appearances, and just had a three-hit game over the weekend against the Seattle Mariners.

Altuve is swinging it well, and E-Rod has trouble with the long ball. He’s surrendered 16 already, and opponents are hitting .311 overall.

Pete Alonso (+220 at DraftKings)

Pete Alonso is tearing the cover off the baseball this season.

He’s hitting .273 with 21 home runs and 77 RBI, serving as one of the New York Mets’ best hitters, as per usual. Alonso has three bombs this month and has a track record of success against Kyle Hendricks, who takes the mound for the Los Angeles Angels tonight.

Polar Bear Pete is 2-for-7 lifetime with a home run vs. Hendricks. He’s terrorized right-handers this year, hitting .300 with 16 of his 21 home runs. Hendricks is relatively good at locating his stuff, but he’s far from overpowering. One mistake with Alonso in the box, and that baseball is leaving the yard in a hurry.

Hendricks has given up 16 homers in 18 starts in 2025. Alonso also has eight bombs at home. No. 22 on the year could be coming for the Amazin’ slugger.

Today’s HR parlay
