HR picks for June 17
Cal Raleigh (+260 at DraftKings)
Cal Raleigh is having a monster campaign. The Seattle Mariners catcher has already smacked 26 home runs in 2025, and we’re not even at the All-Star break. While he hasn’t gone deep in seven games, that could change tonight, as the M’s face the Boston Red Sox and SP Walker Buehler.
Buehler's 5-4 with a 5.01 ERA, and the righty has had issues with the long ball, allowing 11 home runs in 11 starts, with four coming against left-handed hitters like Raleigh. He’s also given up seven of his bombs on the road.
Raleigh is 2-for-3 lifetime against Buehler with a double, and 18 of his homers are off right-handed hurlers. He’s also smacked 13 long balls at T-Mobile Park, making him an ideal candidate for tonight's MLB picks.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+425 at DraftKings)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is hitting .274, but he’s not showing a ton of power with just eight home runs. That’s not exactly ideal for a guy who is typically one of the better HR hitters in the big leagues. While Guerrero hasn’t left the yard this month, he is swinging it well lately.
The first baseman has three multi-hit games in his last five appearances, with a pair of doubles during that span, and tonight’s matchup will play in his favor. The Toronto Blue Jays take on the Arizona Diamondbacks, who hand Brandon Pfaadt the ball. He owns a 5.50 ERA, and he’s given up 14 home runs.
Guerrero has gone deep five times against righties, and Pfaadt just allowed two bombs in his last start.
Matt Olson (+350 at DraftKings)
This may be my favorite pick of the day. Matt Olson is one of the most feared power hitters in the show. He’s up to 14 home runs and even went deep 54 times in 2023.
He has just two homers in June, but tonight’s matchup screams success for Olson.
Olson is 4-for-16 lifetime against New York Mets lefty David Peterson. All four of those hits have left the yard. Yes, Peterson is pitching well this season, but Olson is confident as can be with the southpaw on the bump.
Four of Olson’s homers are off left-handed pitchers and he’s hitting .269 against lefties as well. The 31-year-old is also in the middle of a seven-game hitting streak, so don’t be surprised if Olson finds home run No. 15 versus a divisional rival.
