HR picks for June 15

Cal Raleigh (+220 at DraftKings)

The Seattle Mariners host the Cleveland Guardians to kick off the evening portion of Sunday’s MLB slate. Seattle’s Cal Raleigh has been one of the biggest stories in baseball this year, as he's tied with Aaron Judge for the league lead with 26 home runs.

That success is likely to continue against right-hander Luis Ortiz, who takes the mound for Cleveland. Ortiz has struggled this season, posting a 3-7 record with a 4.26 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 13 starts.

His underlying metrics are even worse, as he ranks in the bottom third of the league in expected ERA (xERA), average exit velocity, barrel rate, and hard-hit rate. Furthermore, Raleigh is 1-for-3 against Ortiz with a home run in his career.

Shohei Ohtani (+205 at DraftKings)

Sunday Night Baseball features the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the San Francisco Giants in an intrastate rivalry. While Raleigh is tied for the league lead in homers, L.A.'s Shohei Ohtani is right behind him with 25.

Perhaps the biggest power threat in baseball, Ohtani ranks in the 100th percentile in expected slugging percentage (xSLG), average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate. He should have plenty of opportunities to exert his dominance against left-hander Kyle Harrison.

Through eight appearances this season, Harrison possesses a 4.56 ERA. Like Ortiz, his underlying metrics are worse, as he ranks in the bottom quarter of the league in xERA, average exit velocity, barrel rate, and hard-hit rate.

Mookie Betts (+425 at DraftKings)

Another Dodgers hitter to target in this matchup is Mookie Betts. Entering this contest in great form, Betts boasts a .364 batting average, .545 slugging percentage, and 1.020 OPS over his past nine games.

He's also homered during that stretch. That success is likely to continue against Harrison, a pitcher whom Betts has a .480 expected slugging percentage (xSLG) against through nine plate appearances.

Harrison has also struggled with the long ball, surrendering two home runs in his latest outing against the lowly Rockies. Yes, the game was played at hitter-friendly Coors Field, but Dodger Stadium has yieled even more home runs this year.

Today’s HR parlay

Cal Raleigh to hit a home run

Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run

Mookie Betts to hit a home run

  1. Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers
  2. Aaron Judge, Yankees
  3. Kyle Schwarber, Phillies
