HR picks for May 28
Aaron Judge (+180 at DraftKings)
Unless he falls off the face of the earth, Aaron Judge is already well on his way to another AL MVP award. The slugger is doing it all for the New York Yankees, batting .395 with 18 home runs and 47 RBI. Whether it’s a right-hander or left-hander on the hill, Judge is doing serious damage.
He’s smacked two long balls in his last five games and has a five-game hitting streak at the moment as well. Judge will face Los Angeles Angels lefty Yusei Kikuchi tonight, and he’s 5-for-25 lifetime with two homers against him.
Seven of Judge's bombs have come against left-handers, and he’s also hitting .444 against southpaws.
Ronald Acuna Jr. (+550 at DraftKings)
Ronald Acuna Jr. returned to the Atlanta Braves lineup with a bang last Friday, homering on the first pitch he saw from Nick Pivetta. In fact, the outfielder had long balls in back-to-back games. He’s had at least one hit in all four appearances since returning from his ACL injury, and tonight’s matchup plays in his favor.
It’s a classic NL East matchup as the Braves face the Philadelphia Phillies, who send Zack Wheeler to the mound. While the right-hander has been lights out with a 2.42 ERA, Acuna has had success against the veteran, going 13-for-51 with four home runs.
Acuna is red-hot, and Wheeler has coughed up eight long balls this season.
Cal Raleigh (+230 at DraftKings)
Cal Raleigh has been one of the best catchers in baseball, and the Seattle Mariners star is showing serious power so far, clubbing 19 home runs while driving in 37. Raleigh has nine bombs in May and four in his last six contests, last smacking two dingers in Tuesday’s victory over the Washington Nationals.
The Mariners take on the Nats again tonight, and Washington hands Trevor Williams the ball. He’s been prone to the homer, giving up seven in just 10 starts. Six of them have been allowed to left-handed hitters like Raleigh.
Although the Mariners' star is 0-for-4 lifetime against Williams, a lot is going in his favor for this matchup.
