My MLB player props analysis for Friday night explains why Seiya Suzuki is on the radar to leave the ballpark as the Chicago Cubs face Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds.

Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna will also be included in my May 23 MLB picks.

HR picks for May 23

Seiya Suzuki 1+ home runs (+400 at DraftKings)

Seiya Suzuki is having a solid campaign for the Cubbies, hitting .253 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI. He ranks Top 10 in the majors in long balls and has gone deep three times in his last nine contests.

Suzuki is a consistent power threat, and there’s reason to believe he could smack No. 13 today.

Hunter Greene returns from the IL for the Reds and although he is an electric starter with fantastic numbers, Suzuki has had success against the flamethrower. He’s 6-for-13 lifetime with two homers and six RBI. The Japanese outfielder has Greene’s number.

Also, Suzuki has seven bombs off right-handed hurlers and he batted .391 last season at Great American Ballpark in 23 at-bats with one home run. My MLB picks believe he could take Greene for a ride in today’s contest.

Freddie Freeman 1+ home runs (+400 at DraftKings)

Freddie Freeman continues to tear the cover off the baseball.

The slugger is one of the most consistent hitters in the big leagues, hitting .368 with nine homers and 34 RBI. The Dodgers can usually count on Freeman to produce offensively at the dish.

L.A. begins a series with the New York Mets tonight, and they send Griffin Canning to the hill. He’s done well so far in his debut season in the Big Apple and while Freeman hasn’t faced him much before, I’m looking at this bet because his only hit in five at-bats was a long ball.

Freeman hasn’t homered in nine games but hit .391 against the Mets last year with a homer.

DraftKings King of the Diamond

Marcell Ozuna 1+ home runs (+275 at DraftKings)

Home run odds at +275 aren’t too common. But, Marcell Ozuna has the most favorable matchup imaginable tonight, and that’s why I believe he could leave the yard.

The Atlanta Braves are taking on the San Diego Padres, who hand Nick Pivetta the ball. While the veteran has been very good so far, Ozuna has lit him up over the years.

In 31 at-bats, Ozuna has eight hits, and six of them are home runs. He’s a power threat every single time Pivetta is on the mound. Plus, the slugger already has nine bombs this season, and has gone deep three times in his last four games as well.

Ozuna’s success as a power hitter in 2025 is mostly against righties, with eight homers. Only one has come off a left-handed pitcher.

  1. Aaron Judge, Yankees
  2. Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers
  3. Kyle Schwarber, Phillies
