The Cincinnati Reds will try to extend their four-game winning streak as they host the recently-underperforming Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.

Both teams have played strongly towards the Under lately, and my Dodgers vs. Reds predictions and MLB picks see another low-scoring game taking place tonight.

Dodgers vs Reds prediction

My Dodgers vs Reds best bet: Under 9 (-105 at Caesars)

The Under has gone 5-1 in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ last six games, while the Under is 6-1-1 in the Cincinnati Reds' last eight outings.

Both teams have been playing low-scoring baseball since the All-Star break, and tonight’s pitching matchup suggests we're in for more of the same.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been as advertised for Los Angeles since coming over from Japan last year, going 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 20 starts this season. He’s only allowed more than one earned run once in his last five starts, throwing to a 1.82 ERA during that stretch.

There’s less certainty around Reds starter Chase Burns.

The rookie has looked electric over his first five starts, striking out 10 batters in each of his last two appearances. But mixed in with three solid performances have been two instances where he’s allowed at least five earned runs, and he’s allowed four homers over his first 21 2/3 innings of work.

Still, I’ve seen enough from Burns to believe he won’t get blown out of this game.

The Reds have played to totals of seven runs or less in each of his last three starts. Between that and Yamamoto’s numbers, I’m confident taking the Under here.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Dodgers vs Reds same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 9

Reds +1.5

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 5.5 strikeouts

Chase Burns Over 5.5 strikeouts

I’m pairing the Under with the Reds on the run line, as Cincinnati has won four straight while the Dodgers have lost six of nine.

I’m also taking both starters to hit the Over on their strikeout props tonight. Yamamoto has struck out six or more batters in four of his last five starts, while Burns has done so in four of his first five career outings.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
