Los Angeles Dodgers phenom Shohei Ohtani is virtually matchup-proof, and it's still amazing whenever there's a decent price on the Over on his total bases prop.

My Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks predictions are jumping on that very market as part of our favorite MLB picks on Thursday, September 25.

Dodgers vs Diamondbacks prediction

Dodgers vs Diamondbacks best bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases (-118)

Shohei Ohtani has averaged an impressive 2.4 bases per game this season, and yet he’s found a way to ramp those numbers up even further of late.

Ohtani has homered four times over his past nine games, during which time he’s piled up 27 bases — good for an average of 3.0. He cleared 1.5 bases in seven of those games, showing great consistency.

The production should continue on Thursday afternoon. The Arizona Diamondbacks will be going with a bullpen game, meaning Ohtani will see a wide array of relievers rather than one quality pitcher.

Arizona’s bullpen certainly looks gettable. Diamondbacks’ relievers rank eighth in average allowed and fourth in flyball rate during September.

They’re giving up a lot of hits and struggling to keep the ball on the ground, which is the best way to limit power threats like Ohtani. It’s also worth noting Ohtani has a great track record against Arizona’s bullpen. He is 16-for-60 with a .379 wOBA and .533 SLG.

Expect the NL MVP frontrunner to make noise against hittable relievers he is very familiar with.

Dodgers vs Diamondbacks same-game parlay (SGP)

Freddie Freeman hits righties and lefties extremely well, so there isn’t an easy way for the Diamondbacks to attack him. He also owns borderline unbelievable numbers against their relievers, hitting .342 with a .645 SLG through 76 at bats. That’s especially noteworthy in a bullpen game.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto has pitched lights out over the last month, sporting a 0.96 ERA, 1.93 FIP, and a strikeout rate approaching 40%. He won’t need much run support to guide the Los Angeles Dodgers to victory — and he’ll likely get it.
