Corey Seager is in good form at the plate. He’s recorded multiple total bases in three of his past four games despite facing stiff competition against the Yankees and Phillies.
My Diamondbacks vs. Rangers predictions see Seager’s bat staying hot on home soil, where he’s produced very efficiently of late. Let’s break down why with my August 11 MLB picks.
Diamondbacks vs Rangers prediction
Diamondbacks vs Rangers best bet: Corey Seager Over 1.5 total bases (-110)
Corey Seager has been the most dangerous bat on the Texas Rangers against right-handed pitching. He owns a .268 average and a team-leading .382 wOBA, putting him well clear of the next closest Rangers player.
Seager has hit for more power vs. lefties but he’s done a better job of limiting strikeouts and putting the ball in play vs. righties.
That bodes well for him going against Ryne Nelson, who has seen a massive decrease in strikeout efficiency against left-handed bats like Seager.
While Seager is a tough out for anybody, the splits of Seager and Nelson set up well for the former to put the bat on the ball and make good contact.
We’ve seen that in a limited sample of head-to-head battles, with Seager hitting a double and a homer over just four at bats against Nelson.
Home field is another benefit for Seager. He has averaged 1.9 bases per game in Texas compared to 1.6 on the road. His clear rate at home also sits 8% higher.
Caesars QuickPick: Our Diamondbacks vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)
Adolis Garcia has not had a great season but he remains a legitimate power threat, sitting second on the Rangers in ISO against right-handed arms.
He has performed well against Nelson’s pitch mix of late, posting an average exit velocity of 96 miles per hour and a 60% hard hit rate over the last 15 at bats. Both metrics rank him first on the Rangers.
Nathan Eovaldi leads the majors in ERA and has been lights out all season long. He gives the Rangers a starting pitching advantage over Ryne Nelson. Not to mention, the Arizona Diamondbacks have the fourth-worst bullpen ERA.
