Vladimir Guerrero Jr. returned to the lineup and the Toronto Blue Jays' bats came alive in a series-opening 10-4 win against the visiting Minnesota Twins.

Tonight, they’ll look to take another series when they hand the ball to veteran Chris Bassitt, who’s starting to spin it again.

My Blue Jays predictions break down why backing C Bass against a depleted Twins lineup is the way to go.

Blue Jays predictions for August 26

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: C Bass Eats Twinkies!

Chris Bassitt Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (+550 at BetVictor)

Toronto Blue Jays fans were thrilled to see Vladimir Guerrero Jr. back in the lineup after missing the last five games with a hamstring, and he made his presence felt immediately, driving in two runs in the 10-4 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Now, the Jays are hoping for yet another series win by handing the ball to crafty veteran Chris Bassitt.

The 36-year-old right-hander with the unlimited arsenal of pitches has found his groove in August. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in four starts this month, good for a 3.80 ERA while limiting opponents to a .185 batting average, and he should keep spinning it tonight.

Bassitt faces the shell of the team that used to be the Twins. Minnesota went through a massive sell-off at the trade deadline just about a month ago, and the results are pretty much what you would expect.

The Twins are 8-15 so far in August with a -30 run differential. They have the second-lowest batting average, the fifth-lowest OPS, and the 10th-highest strikeout rate during that period.

Not many in this Twins lineup have much experience against C Bass, so he should be able to keep them off balance with his absurd pitch mix. I’m taking the Under on 4.5 hits allowed for Bassitt. Something he’s done in four of his last eight starts.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Chris Bassitt Under 4.5 Hits Allowed

Chris Bassitt Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Addison Barger Over 0.5 RBIs

We’re doubling down on Chris Bassitt to have a great night on the mound by adding Over 5.5 strikeouts to this same-game parlay.

Bassitt has been just about league average when it comes to K-rate this season, punching out 22.7% of batters faced. The Twins are striking out 23.4% of the time since the trade deadline. Bassitt is also coming off matching his season high for strikeouts in a game with 10 in a loss to the Pirates last time out.

Then let’s round this SGP out with Addison Barger to get an RBI. The Blue Jays slugger went deep against Twins starter Bailey Ober when they met earlier this season. He’s got a .349 xBA and a 1.215 xSLG in six career plate appearances vs. Ober.

While Ober enters this game in the Bottom 31% of both xERA and xBA. Barger drives one in tonight.
