We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball today, including matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Angels.

Addison Barger has three home runs in his last six outings, and my Blue Jays prediction sees him going deep again with an extremely favorable pitching matchup for him this afternoon.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Barger Bringing the Heat

Pick: Addison Barger Over 0.5 home runs (+330 at BetVictor)

Addison Barger has been a big reason for the Toronto Blue Jays current six-game winning streak. In this stretch, the Jays' lefty slugger is hitting .333 with three homers and a 1.221 OPS.

His underlying metrics reflect this level of success as well. Barger crushes the baseball, ranking in the 94th percentile in hard-hit rate with an xSLG% of .552, while ranking in the 93rd percentile in xBA. This means he has a great approach at the plate, making hard contact with the ball consistently.

This could pose a problem for right-handed Los Angeles Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz, who struggles against left-handed hitters and gives up a lot of hard contact, allowing an OPS of .900 against lefties this year. He also ranks in the fifth percentile in all of baseball in average exit velocity, resulting in 15 home runs allowed this season, 13 of which have come against lefties, like Barger, at the plate.

Additionally, Kochanowicz has a five-pitch repertoire, but mainly relies on his sinker, a pitch with a 47% usage rate. Barger is hitting .393 against the sinker this season with a .536 slugging rate.

If Kochanowicz leaves one over the middle of the plate, a big Barger blast should be in the cards this afternoon.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Addison Barger Over 0.5 home runs

George Springer Over 0.5 runs scored

George Springer Over 1.5 bases

For the first leg of our SGP, we will stick with the best bet and take Over 0.5 home runs for Addison Barger.

We’ll continue riding some hot bats from the Blue Jays offense and take George Springer to go Over 1.5 bases. Much like Barger, Springer also handles the sinker very well, hitting .388 against that pitch. He’s also been on fire lately with a .500 average over his last 10 outings, collecting two or more bags in four straight games.

Springer has also been a run-scoring machine over this stretch, crossing home plate 13 times in his last 10 games. He’s now slotted in the two-hole and has a handful of red-hot teammates hitting behind him to bring him home once he gets on base.

So I’ll continue to back that prop as well and take Over 0.5 runs scored as the final leg of my parlay.
