It couldn’t be easier: scan the slate and pick the game or games you think the teams will combine for an opening run in the first inning or not.

My best NFRI bets and YRFI bets will start with one team that might just see its massive NRFI streak end.

NRFI/YRFI bets for June 14

Cardinals at Brewers: YRFI (Play at ProphetX)

With their scoreless first inning Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers have now run off nine straight games with zero runs in the first inning scored.

All good things must come to an end, though, and Saturday’s pitching matchup might be the one that delivers that opening inning run.

St. Louis’ Andre Pallante gets the call, and the Cardinals have lost three of his last four starts. A first inning score has also been tallied in each of the last three games.

Milwaukee is hitting a cool .300 off Pallante in a 40 at-bat sample.

The Brewers trot out Jose Quintana, and while he’s surrendered two earned runs or less in three of his last four stars, a first inning run has plated in three of his last four starts – two of those games courtesy of the opponent.

Rockies at Braves: YRFI (Play at ProphetX)

Take two of the Top 6 teams in YRFI this season, and you’ve got yourself the makings of a first-inning score. That’s what we have today when the Atlanta Braves take on the Colorado Rockies.

The Braves have seen a run-scoring first inning in 56% of their home games, while Colorado has a YRFI rate of 54% on the road.

The pitching matchup is the clincher: Rockies righty Chase Dollander is 2-6 with a 6.85 ERA. He’s fortunate that a first-inning run has only happened twice in his last five starts.

Atlanta counters with Spencer Strider, who is 0-5 on the year with a plump 5.40 ERA. There’s been a run plated in the first inning in three of his last four starts.

Angels at Orioles: YFRI (Play at ProphetX)

Let’s wrap with the Los Angeles Angels in Maryland to take on the Baltimore Orioles.

The O’s are one of baseball’s current NRFI streakers, having seen zeroes across first inning action in four straight games. However, all signs are pointing to this streak coming to an end.

Righty Tomoyuki Sugano starts for Baltimore, and first inning scores have happened in three straight starts of his.

Ditto for Angels’ lefty Tyler Anderson, but on a larger scale. A first inning run has plated in six of his last seven starts. Not only that, but five of those starts have seen multiple first inning runs.

These teams have played four times this year, and three of them have seen a YRFI.
