A redundancy consultation has begun at Flutter Entertainment. Around 220 jobs will be lost in the company’s U.K. and Ireland division, as the organization pursues a new single-tech strategy. Flutter’s Leeds HQ will bear the brunt of the redundancies.

Key Takeaways

  • Flutter Entertainment has begun a redundancy consultation
  • Around 220 jobs will be lost in the company’s U.K. and Ireland division as it moves towards a single platform
  • Regulatory pressures and increasing costs are said to have contributed to the decision

The news follows the company’s planned consolidation of its brands onto a single platform. It has already been announced that Sky Bet will soon move to the Paddy Power Betfair platform, with other strategy shifts expected to follow as the company looks to streamline processes and reduce costs.

Flutter Entertainment has cited regulatory pressure as a key reason for the job losses, with a surge in business costs also contributing to the difficult situation its U.K. and Ireland division now finds itself in.

A spokesperson for the company said, “As part of a broader strategy to bring some of our brands on to a single tech platform – and against the backdrop of increasing cost and regulatory pressure – we have entered into consultation with a number of colleagues.”

Flutter Entertainment has stated that it is “working with those affected to explore redeployment opportunities wherever possible,” but its spokesperson admitted that “it is likely that some roles will regrettably become redundant later this year."

Majority of job losses to come from Leeds HQ

The Paddy Power and FanDuel owner has not yet revealed exactly which jobs will go. However, it is understood that the company’s tech and product teams will bear the brunt of the job losses.

The jobs under threat are primarily located in Leeds, at the Wellington Place HQ that houses 1,000 of Flutter’s employees. The company’s Dublin office will also face redundancies, but fewer than 10 jobs are expected to go from the Irish location.

The news comes following a mixed financial report for the first quarter of this year.

Overall, the company reported a revenue rise of 8%, but it missed Q1 EPS and revenue forecasts. In the affected region, the U.K. and Ireland, revenue grew by just 2%. The outlook was slightly more positive for iGaming, however, with 9% growth reported.

Flutter’s U.K. and Ireland division is its second largest. The region brought in overall revenue of $882 million in Q1, putting it second only to the U.S., where revenue almost hit $1.7 billion in the first quarter of 2025. Around a third of the company’s 27,000 employees are based in the U.K. and Ireland.
