BetMGM announced that the “Game of Thrones” slot, developed by Blueprint Gaming, is now live in the Alberta online casinos newly regulated iGaming market following a successful launch in Ontario.
Key Takeaways
- BetMGM launched Blueprint Gaming's “Game of Thrones” slot in Alberta.
- The launch follows a record-breaking Canadian debut in Ontario.
- BetMGM obtained exclusive rights to distribute the game in Canada after partnering with Blueprint in April.
The slot made its Canadian debut in Ontario in April 2026 after BetMGM partnered with Blueprint Gaming, granting BetMGM exclusive rights to supply the game across its Canadian platforms.
Since its launch in Ontario, BetMGM says the slot has generated record-breaking engagement and performance metrics for the operator, with gaming advisory firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming ranking the title as Canada’s fifth-best-performing online casino game launch.
“'Game of Thrones' is a cultural phenomenon. Players come to BetMGM Casino for the best in entertainment, and Blueprint Gaming delivers an immersive slot that goes beyond the spin of a reel - it puts them right in the heart of Westeros,” Oliver Bartlett, SVP of gaming at BetMGM, said in an April press release.
The game was developed in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, and its gameplay mirrors that of the popular HBO series. It features Blueprint's Money Collect mechanic, which evolves as players progress through the game.
Players can unlock sigils representing Houses Stark, Baratheon, Lannister and Targaryen, each providing different gameplay modifiers. Additional wildlife-themed modifiers are also included. Other modifiers are also spread out throughout the game, such as wildlife-inspired ones that help to create a more compelling experience for players.

GeoComply records 3.2M checks in Alberta's 1st week
Alberta became Canada’s second regulated gaming market after launching on July 13. In its first week of operation, Vancouver-based geolocation and data-compliance group GeoComply recorded 3.2 million geolocation checks province-wide.
Edmonton and Calgary recorded the highest density of player activity within the first 72 hours, while the World Cup proved to be the busiest period for operators during the first week, with the Argentina-Spain final generating more than 53,000 geolocation checks.
GeoComply also reported that over 100,000 Albertans signed up with gaming operators on launch day and that the operators it worked with maintained a 99.5% pass rate, ensuring seamless gaming activity for residents.
“As a Canadian company, this one’s close to home,” said Anna Sainsbury, chair and cofounder of GeoComply. “Albertans were eager to expand their choices of safe, regulated ways to play, and the final matches of the World Cup gave us an immediate look at the market in action. More than 100,000 Albertans across the province signed up through GeoComply-enabled platforms and engaged with licensed operators right out of the gate. We’re proud that our Canadian team gets to help operators do it right in Alberta.”
