Like John Denver, bet365 also believes that West Virginia is a place where it belongs.

The U.K.-based operator announced Thursday morning that it launched its online sportsbook and casino in West Virginia, making it the 18th U.S. state where bet365 is live.

“West Virginia represents another important step in bet365’s continued expansion across North America,” said Trip Stoddard, head of development at bet365, in a press release. “As we grow our presence across the region, our focus remains on bringing customers the quality, depth and functionality that define the bet365 platform.”

The West Virginia sports betting launch comes just ahead of the start of football season, an always crucial time for both bettors and bookmakers. The West Virginia Mountaineers are set to play their first game of the college football season on Sept. 5 against Coastal Carolina.

Yet bet365 will have an additional opportunity in West Virginia, as it is one of only eight states that permit online casino gambling as well. That will give the operator an “always on” business for West Virginia residents, and bet365’s opening offers to new customers include perks both on the sportsbook and casino side.

While its roots are in the U.K., bet365 continues to gain traction with U.S. punters. A recent report from investment bank Citizens showed that bet365 managed to generate 3.6% of online sports betting revenue in the U.S. during July, double what it was a year earlier. In iGaming market share, bet365's cut rose to 2% from 0.4% in July 2025.

“Compared to the prior year, bet365 (new state launches) and Fanatics (business tailwinds) continue to take market share from the overall industry,” Citizens analysts wrote.
