OAKLAWN PARK, RACE 7
1 Mile and 1/16th, Purse: $61,000, Optional Claiming $100k, Post: 4:16 p.m. ET
No. 8 GAMINE (7/5): This $1.8 million dollar purchase lived up to the 1/9 odds in her pari-mutuel debut winning comfortably. Today, she stretches out in distance to try her luck routing for the first time. She meets a relatively soft field in here, and should be the one on the front end dictating the tempo. Based on what we've seen in her first start, along with her recent works - she's definitely the one to beat and a worthy single in all of your exotic wagers.
GULFSTREAM PARK, RACE 10
7 Furlongs, Purse: $100,000 Big Drama Stakes, Post: 5:25 p.m. ET
No. 5 RED CRESCENT (6/1): Returns to the sprinting distance where he has put forth his best efforts including a career high speed figure of 105 in his most recent try at seven furlongs. Look for this gelding to take advantage of the lack of pace and likely be involved early either on the front end, or near it. He's proven difficult to pass late when he's able to get to the front end, and he could find himself able to rate there today.
OAKLAWN PARK, RACE 11
1 Mile and 1/8th, Purse: $500,000 Arkansas Derby DIV 1, Post: 6:29 p.m. ET
No. 1 CHARLATAN (EVEN): In this earlier division of the Arkansas Derby CHARLATAN is a clear standout and could not have looked more impressive in both of his pari-mutuel efforts. Even though he got off to a bit slower than ideal start in his debut, with not a lot of speed entered, expect this colt to find the front end fairly easily. If he races anything like he did last time out, they all seem to be racing for minor shares of the purse money.
OAKLAWN PARK, RACE 12
1 Mile and 1/8th, Purse: $60,000 Oaklawn Handicap, Post: 7:04 p.m. ET
No. 4 MR FREEZE (6/1): With an outside draw for IMPROBABLE, and quite a few horses seemingly wanting the front, the front end fractions could prove very taxing. I think that makes this race completely wide open. TACITUS on paper does look like the one to beat in here getting to face off against much easier, but it's been quite some time since he's found the winners circle and the price will be short.
MR FREEZE has been racing exceptionally well lately, enters on a victory last time out and could be dangerous if he's able to capitalize off a stalking trip just behind the front runner.
OAKLAWN PARK, RACE 13
1 Mile and 1/8th, Purse: $500,000 Arkansas Derby DIV 2, Post: 7:43 p.m. ET
No. 7 SILVER PROSPECTOR (10/1): The shorter prices in here will not offer up much value, and there isn't much that differentiates them, so I will be taking a shot. This colt has been racing very well as of late with a few races' experience within the graded stakes ranks and racing at distances longer than a mile. With quite a bit of early speed entered, a pace scenario with faster early fractions could potentially ensue and that would make this horse a major contender as a very live longshot.
