Sparty's question spawned me to re-engage my attorneys on the legality of creating those types of pledge contests.  My attorney's response was...first...yes, technically that was an illegal activity in the eyes of the Government.  However, the likelihood of them ever knocking on the door was very slim, and the likelihood of them proving a case would be very challenging.  They did say that the risk was at least inherent that they would one day down the line...if there were thousands of people conducting pool type situations...be knocking on the door.  

Given the fact that the site itself doesn't make any money, the risk/reward tradeoff simply doesn't make sense at this point.  I've got other ideas, no reason to operate in the grey.

for those guys that are still questioning the merits of LuDawgs.com...

honestly, its all free you have nothing to lose, enter a contest and hope you win the money and if u dont win it oh well u lost nothing out of it...the site's premise is based on community and tipping for hosting such challenges....

you tip people 50 cents to 2 dollars for hosting a challenge or even posting a hot play....not required nothing is required including the challenges/plays

in essence, you are giving 'charity money' for their plays/challenges as a thank you gift


once again...all free

As one who was a paralegal for 13 years...the only issue is the Pools/Pledges- as you are asking for money.  That has been removed.

For contests..it's not different than bodog.net. covers contests or otherwise wherein you enter for free and just hope to win.

if you were smart you would know paypal has no fees when you send money ALREADY in your account...only money sent via CC are hit by the fee....smartass

damn shame people still question ludawg on here when hes been one of the nicest and honest guys on here....

it'll be back at some point i think.

i can't complain, having made several hundred dollars in 10 days.  straight to my paypal account.  so much easier than getting money out of books.

Were you dealing with "books" that didn't pay. How can that site be better than betting what you want on a given game. How are contest better than books. Can you bet parlays there? Teasers? Straight bets? Is he an online book? Just asking???

my several problems with books (others might not think this):

- hard (and sometimes pricey) to get money out.
- most importantly...it's really hard to not keep betting when you win a big one and give all your money back at on online book.
- i like pools and contests better b/c my risk is small and reward is great.  it's more exciting to me with very little cost.
- at ludawgs, i am forced to only play only a couple of games a day instead of having 74 bets on one game available.
- i would much rather bet against other bettors than the books.  huge advantage there, imo.

so for me...it's exciting, low risk, higher chance of winning, and built-in money management discipline.

I agree about the online books. Some seem to really drag their feet.I do most of my bigger bets with a local book so I can get paid when I win.
