72 hour wait

I was just wondering why there is a 72 hour wait after the 25th person crosses the finish line. Would anything make the results change at all. I would like to also say congrats to all winners and great job for all people that came really close! Kudos!||an_clap.gif' border=0>

Maybe that's how long the 'prospective' winners have to reply with proper ID etc....?
