It's sad that the 2 best teams in the nation aren't playing for the title! It should be Georgia vs. Southern California!!! Oh yeah and Ohio St. is gonna get that ass tapped next year first game in the coliseum!!! GL to all with your bets! Just a thought there is no "best conference" label... didn't Tennessee lose by 17 to a lousy Cal team this year?

This game is a letdown to the whole season. Take the under and LSU. OSU had one weak schedule and LSU just never seemed to "take care of business" when it had to this season unless it was against much weaker competition. That being said, OSU played much weaker competition and there defense rankings are over inflated because of that. LSU will be healthy, as will OSU, but LSU has much more team speed-Holliday-and will run circles around the big 10 champion.
Bad championship game between two undeserving teams, and will have a lopsided outcome with LSU WAY on top....31-12

It doesn't matter who deserves to be there or who shouldn't be there, the fact of the matter is they both are there. We can scream till we are blue that there should be a playoff but there isn't. The first rule of being a good sports handicapper is that you can't be a fan and show a biased opinion based on what team you root for.
Ohio State has a great defense. I get to see them every week because I live in Ohio. Offensively, teams can stop them if they can stop Wells which for LSU might be more of a problem then you would expect (ie: Darren McFadden/Felix Jones). What I don't like about this game for the Bucknuts are 3 things.
1. The game is being played in a dome on a fast track. Regardless what you think of the SEC or LSU they are built on speed. OSU has not seen a team with this much speed all season and is something that scares me. I will always handicap speed over strength (you can't push them around if you can't catch them).
2. Mobile quarterbacks add a different dimension to the OSU defensive scheme. Juice Williams made plays when the pocket collapsed and OSU ended up losing. I'm not sure if Perrilloux or Flynn is starting but both are mobile enough to hold a linebacker around to spy leaving LaFell, Doucet, and Byrd to run around in the OSU secondary.
3. Strength of Schedule does matter because OSU has really played no one this year and that is why their stats look so good. Not to take anything away from the Buckeyes defense, but if they played Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, VaTech, and Arkansas they would not have the best ranked defensive stats in the nation. Don't let the numbers fool you!
I would like to see the Buckeyes win because I hate LSU with a passion, but the play on the field and watching OSU play makes it impossible for me NOT to lay the 4 and take the Bayou Bengals.

under 49les miles decision to stay and that playoff win over the vols has to have this squad totally rejuvinated and ready to rock and roll. as they say the cream rises to the top and it did so for the tigers in that season ending win over the vols. their size and speed will be the difference in this game. glenn dorsey is a man playing against boys. he will wreck havoc in this game. i took the fighting irish last year against the tigers. i learned my lesson, LSU MINUS THE POINTS.

Ohio State starting cornerback Donald Washington and reserve corner Eugene Clifford have been suspended for the national championship game because of a violation of team rules, a source close to the team confirmed tonight.
There were no details on the nature of the violation, except that it is not a legal issue.
The loss of Washington is significant. The sophomore from Indianapolis has started every game this season and played well, twice being named the team's defensive player of the week.
He has 34 tackles, a sack and an interception returned 70 yards for a touchdown against Kent State.
In November, while discussing who has stood out on defense, center Jim Cordle called Washington “the most underrated corner in the nation.”
His absence means redshirt freshman Chimdi Chekwa likely will start with Malcolm Jenkins at the corners. In the nickel defense, safety Jamario O'Neal now likely will get the nod.
Previously, Chekwa has played corner in nickel and Jenkins has shifted to safety. Andre Amos, Nick Patterson and Aaron Gant also could see more playing time.
Clifford, a freshman from Cincinnati, has played in four games and has eight tackles.
In March, while in high school, Clifford was cited for marijuana possession by Colerain Township police. He paid a $105 fine for the minor misdemeanor.
Because he had not enrolled at OSU, Clifford did not fall under the school's drug and alcohol policy. A university spokesman said, though, that because of the infraction, Clifford might be subject to more stringent testing.

That will hurt. Losing Clifford isn't such as big deal he hardly played this year even though he was supposed to be last year's best recruit. Chekwa should be able to fill in adequately for Washington, but what it will really hurt them on is the nickel packages the article talked about.

With LSU back to full strength for the first time in two months, they will handle OSU pretty easily. I don't think this is a hard game to call, and all the betting site's, and pick'em contests concur. I think OSU will play very hard, but there is just an imbalance in the talent level of these two teams. OSU, Kansas, and Hawaii, are the three weakest teams in he Top 10. NO WINS over a Top 20 team this year. How in the heck did they get a spot in this game? Sad what Jim Delaney has done to CFB, and its' fans. They should be in Florida in a mid-level bowl. Good team, but way over their head in this game. More picks coming in a seperate thread next week, but this game is a Top 3 pick of mine (and my posted record on this site is pretty impressive...those who have bet with me are VERY happy.) LSU wins by 10, at a MINIMUM, and that is with every break going Ohio St's way.

Finally, Someone actually makes sence on this tread. MAC I agree with every thing you stated. Being a fan of LSU and seeing 6 of their games this year, only concern is the secondary cornerback coverage. If everybody comes back healthy. This game should be very similar to the Florida game last year with OSU, and old fashsion SEC WHOOOOPPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I've heard, Clifford is the only one suspended. Washington, as of now is safe.

There are a couple of similarities I have seen between this team and the OSU Championship team of 2002. Great Defense: I think this years team tackles better. Strong running game: Both teams have great O-lines and pounding RB's (Chris Wells/Maurice Clarett '02). QB's that won't win you games but they won't lose you games either. Krenzel ('02) and Boeckman make very few mistakes and can manage a game well.
I'm not making a prediction as of now, but I'm leaning toward OSU. I think Tressell will be taking a different view of preparation after last year's ass whipping. GL to all.

Krash, I feel sure Tressel will make some adjustments after last year's rout, and I am equally sure OSU will bring a serious attitude into this game (where last year they really thought they were a great team that could roll anyone.) I will give you that OSU will leave it all on the field after last year's embarassment; they have to tired of hearing about the SEC's invincibility. I just don't think that will change the outcome, although it may make it closer.
LSU is just a much better football team than Ohio State when they are healthy, especially on offense. Florida last year had a great defense, but an average offense. They were not dominent during the season, but steamrolled OSU. This LSU team is almost as good defensively, but better on offense than last year's Florida team, and they did dominate teams early in the year. Look at what they did to a pretty good Va Tech, and a decent Miss St. team. LSU played eight bowl teams this year, and lost twice in triple OT when key players were hurt. Ohio State didn't beat one team ranked in the Top 20. NOT ONE. In a playoff, they should get a spot, but with only two teams playing in the so-called title game, they are not deserving. Along with Hawaii, and Kansas, they are the weakest 3 teams in the Top 10.
OSU..... great motivation, and a solid defense, but no imagination on the offensive side of the ball. LSU will shut this team down, and win decisively. Maybe not 3-4 TD's like last year, but OSu goes down by 2+ TDS again. You see, Ohio State isn't the only one motivated because it is for a "faux title", and there are MANY folks saying LSU doesn't belong in the game either. Won't someone please put a contract out on Jim Delaney so we can get another good match-up in the season's final game? This has been a fantastic CFB season, but this is a huge let down for a finale. Fans deserve better than this.

In the last three seasons OSU has lost four games; three of them to teams with a spread offense (Texas, Florida, Illinois) and the fourth was to a team with a very mobile quarterback (Michael Robinson, PSU).
System wise, and especially if Flynn takes most snaps, this is a good matchup for OSU's D. Overall, this appears to be the best D OSU has had under Tressel - including 2002 - although as everyone has noted, their schedule is very weak so it's hard to tell.
A bit of caution: don't lean too heavily on the theory of SEC superiority. OSU was blown out by Florida last year. But Wisconsin beat Arkansas and Penn State beat Tennessee. The gap isn't that great.
Also - the Vegas underdog has won 7 of 9 straight up in the BCS title game. So please don't use the "lock" word.
At this point I'm betting hard on OSU ML.

Man cant believe the amount of koolaid being consumed on this site.
