I'm one of those people started out liking the Colts w/Manning, but the more I look at the pt. spread, the more I leaned toward the Bears. My gutis telling me the Colts will win, but cover not so "sure". Can you shed some light on my blight?

dsa1771 - I don't think I could add any more as to why I like the Colts here - read from the beginning.
Read it all, the arguments from both sides, and make your call. Lots of information, figuring out what matters is the hard part. Trust your instinct.
I do think the line will be less than 7 by gametime if that changes anything. I think people are scared of the number more than they like the Bears, just my opinion. And there is no "sure" - ever. Just confidence, information, experience & luck.

It's sure is interesting when you itemize all the 'cappers and their picks. You know, I didn't think much of it a few weeks back but it actually seemed to help with the picks.
Thanks Coloneljim

I would like to add to your running tally of side/totals scorpio, if i may. just a quick intro... i have been following the game threads pretty much all year just ot get a feel fro whats out there. this is for the record, my first post ever.
my take here is that there is no way in hell we can predict what is going to happen here. an educatd guess is even out of the question. however, we can determine what the main factors of the big game will be. my opinion is that this game has to be broken down for each team seperately and then from there we can "bac k into" a decision.
for me... the BEARS major factors are;
1. Defensive Line - in order for these guys to have any chance in this game, it all begins here. The front line of the Chicago defense MUST get to PM quickly, and I mean within 3 seconds every time. If they fail to do so on a regular basis then PM will seek and destroy the Bears.
2. Offensive Line/Running Game- this one is obvious. the BEARS have done very well in the run game this year and the COLTS, we all know (32nd ranked run defense). I will not look to the playoffs as an indicator of improved run defense for the Colts because there are a number of factors that can discredit them. CHIEFS- Did not run the ball like they did all year, Ravens can't run the ball on anyone, PATS got into a shootout. The bottom line here is that a strong run game will limit PM's exposure of the Bears D.
You can go into all the Special Teams crap and turnovers etc. no one could tell you what is going to happen with those intangibles.
For the COLTS
1. OFFENSIVE LINE (pass blocking)- If PM gets the time he needs (3 seconds)... The colts win by more than 7.
2. Run Defense- If the Colts show up here again this week then the game will be a toss up. even without great pass blocking.
My guess is that PM will get the time he needs. This means that the Bears fail to pressure PM like they need to. The Bears will run it pretty good but will have to abandon because they will be down by too many points to sustain their run game. This will lead to...
COLTS/UNDER

aloha BDhpd, it was Trent Dilfer, who actually hit a few long passes in that game and played most of the year with minimal turnovers.
im most curious what PROPS you're playing.
Hey 3rd, if i had 7K riding on a win alone id probably do alot of colts prop bets and not so much -7 but thats me. God help me im a closet Raider fan and my bacon got saved with prop bets in that SB loss toTB, where Gannon passed for a ton (to both teams)
of course if you emotionally feel the need for the full Monte by all means let er rip.
Speaking of which, SCORPIO and JT you guys need to truly understand why PM does all his checkdowns, Jeff Saturday has a horrible gas problem, its a survival issue.
lol. I knew it was Dilfer but I was just making a point on how forgetful the Ravens QB was.
As far as the prop bets they are done here at a local house to where you can place bets on who will win the coin toss, first score td or field goal, etc. I placed a wager on almost every one.
Actually it is interesting that you bring up the Raider/Tampa game cause if i remember correctly that season Tampa was a passing team throughout the regular season that year, but there running game won them their Super Bowl title. While the Raiders was so strong on offense with all the talent they had that year only to come out flat in the Super Bowl.
Aloha and good luck to all

Smokey- I think it depends on the book. Sportsbook pays on props as they happen. I.E. I cashed in @ +800 on that beautiful Brees grounding call (Safety)in the NFC Champ game and was paid right away. No comments from anybody on how dumb of a bet that is. Please, I already know, but what the hell? This is my last hoorah until August and I'm betting on every damn thing in the game. I can't stomach betting on - --. and it gives my liver a rest.
AND THE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .........and tails...........lol
Thank you Hunted & Scorp, I contacted my book to get that info. That was a nice hit on the +800 Hunted. Thats what this time of the season is all about. Thats something you won't forget anythime soon.

WOW talk about beating a dead horse. I can't beleive how they can let this thread run like this. Anyways it's kind of sad that this is the last thread regarding football. I'm going to miss reading all of your posts. Even the spirited exchanges. Anyways it's been a pleaseure having been able to exchange perspectives with all of you and I respect all of your insight. the refreshing part of these threads are that we are able to get past that fatty top layer of national media "story line" and "Big Game" hype. We have insight and inside information and knowledge from different people who are all able to bring expertise in different areas of the game to fruition. So it has been a pleasure and good luck to you all

Ok, I have been DEAD SET on Indy and the over but I'm getting a bad feeling about it. Why is the spread still sitting at -7 ? I'm sure seeing a lot of love going the Bears way here.I'm still set on the over but now I'm thinking about teasing Da Bears to 13. Argh!!!! . Being new to posting on here, I don't want to seem to be flaking out, but this game's killing me. But I still love it!!!!

As I do on a regular basis I have more information that might make you think twice about your over or your under play. I already like the under but with looking at the weather forecast for Sunday in Miami I am starting to LOVE the under. Currently we are looking at a 50% chance of rain with winds out of the south east at 15mph.
I am not going to start a conversation on who the rain might help or hurt but I think it could have an affect on the total.
I can't wait for Grey's Anatomy tonight!!!!! That is where Dr. J works.......
