couldn't ask for a better game to finish off the season. not sure who will come out on top...leaning toward ohio state...but do think many points will be scored. goin with the over probly not touching the game

Some information you might like to know about these two teams, that not many do.
At FIRST glance, as you can tell by my earlier and only post until now, I was all over Ohio State.
I have since dug into it this matchup a lot deeper and find the below information very enlightening, probably enlightening enough to get me to change my thoughts on betting OSU.
Florida has played ten (10) bowl teams, counting Arkansas
Ohio State has only played six (6) bowl teams
ADVANTAGE FLORIDA
The teams Florida has played, have won 94 games and only lost 49
That's an average of 7.8 wins each (almost 8 wins each) and averaged only 4 losses
The teams Ohio State has played, have won 76 games, and LOST 74 (that's seventy-four, for all you OSU fans)
That's an average of 6.3 wins, and 6.1 LOSSES
BIG avantage Florida!
According to the latest Sagarin's ratings, Florida's SOS ranking is 19th in the nation ......and Ohio State's is 38th
Small advantage Florida
Florida played ONLY two (2) LOSING teams, Vandy and Central Florida, throwing out the 1-AA school Western Carolina (whom they stomped 62-0)
Ohio State played seven (7) LOSING teams, plus two (2) small schools who gave them fits for 3 or more quarters, No. Illinois and Cinncinatti.
Another BIG advantage to Florida
Throw in the fact that all the pressure is on Ohio State (expected to win) and that is another small advantage to Florida
I'm sure there are OTHER Florida advantages in this game, but these, should be all you need along with the added advantage of those 7 1/2 points you get free gratis.

The offensive and defensive stats are about a wash here, except for the 7 more points a game OSU averaged scoring, but that's easily explained away by simply comparing the two's schedules as per above, WINNERS versus LOSERS.
There was also the 3 points a game difference in defensive scoring, to OSU's favor, but AGAIN...explained away by the much easier schedule.
Florida has the head coach with the more imaginative and innovative offense here also, IMHO.
And their defense is not to be overlooked either.
I like the Gators with the 7 1/2...SU
but also have BOTH teams teased
and Florida on the M-L
and the over teased down to 33
Again, as always, you bet at your own risk, no crybabies if things get outta whack a mite, and you lose a bet or two or three.THAT SAID....GOOOOOOO GATORSSSSSS!!!!!

Florida will not struggle on offense against this Ohio St team like they have against some of the better SEC defenses, and their defense is one of the best in the nation. I see them having no problem getting the running game going. Ohio St will still score some, Gators score more. I like the Gators on the money line, but I absoutely LOVE them at +7.5. Also leaning over.

I'm on Ohio State here. -7.5, but laying off the first half bet, as I could see Fla having some early success. But they wear down by game end, and OSU puts it away.
SoS is interesting and all, but really I do not see it illuminating a winner here. The game comes down to two things, talent matchups and preparation. Does it really matter who played the tougher schedule? Do you think anyone on either team or on either sideline will be discussing who played who earlier in the year? No, all that is past, and all we are left with is THIS game with THESE players.
Both teams have talent, but OSU has two BIG advantages -- at QB and the kicking game. Would you rather have -- a Heisman Trophy winner who has the eye of the tiger, or a spotty but sparky two-man tandem? For one game, pick quality over quantity. As for the kickers, Ohio State's Aaron Pettrey is 8 for 11 in FGs, with two 50-yd+ kicks. Fla counters with Chris Hetland, who is 4 for 13, with the longest being from 33 yds.
This FG advantage is more than just who wins it at the finish. It can really help determine momentum during the game. If Fla should get a turnover, or make a nice long drive, missing a FG to top it off could kill their momentum and make them turn to more desperate measures, playing into OSU's hand.
As for preparation, Tressel is as good as anyone. The professorial look he brings is not just schtick. He is very exacting, even-keeled, and smart about how he prepares his team, and it shows week in and week out, and in past bowl games.
I'm not bashing Fla here, but I just think that overall these teams are not that close. I don't think 7 or 7.5, or 8 makes all that much difference here. OSU covers, but BigDaddy, watch out for that halftime bet... not so sure about that one here. But I could be wrong on that as I have not studied that angle thoroughly. I am wary of a 1st half bet because 1) OSU had a long layoff, 2) I saw them score zero vs. PSU in the first half, and 3) Fla will bring some talent, energy, and probably a few surprises early on.
But OSU adjusts and puts it away. Good luck all with your wagers... I will try to post more later as time allows.

Blackjack.... i absolutely love your posts(i have been reading them all season) but i think you need to stick to your original gut feeling. A lot of your information reminds of the old theory A beats B and B beats C so therefore A will kill C, and we all know that never adds up. Looking at Florida's opponents and judging the gators on how those teams played in their other games is somewhat useless. Just like i will not base my pick on the fact that the big ten is 2-0 against the SEC in bowl games this year.
Lets look at other tangibles like Florida being the second most penalized team in the nation(behind akron)
Or how terrible their kicking game is.. 4 fg's all season and a long of 33? wow
Tressel and troy smith's performance in big games throughout their tenure (undefeated in Arizona...home away from home for OSU)
OSU already beating two #2 teams this year(regardless of how those teams performed after the games)
OSU converting over 50% of their third downs and 70% on fourth down.. tough to keep off field
I could go on and on about how shakey leak is but im sure you already know. i wish you the best of luck but i hope you go with your original gut feeling. cheers.

BE CAREFUL riding the OSU Train. 
If you review this past seasons results for both teams you will swing from OSU to the Gators.
Ask yourself the following question?
If OSU was in the SEC or ACC would they be 12-0?
Who would win OSU or LSU?
Besides Texas and Michigan who are the toughest teams OSU played this year? Penn State, Iowa, Cincy... 
Ohio State beat Penn State by the score of 28-6. Sounds like a blow-out against a team with a pretty good defense. However, Ohio State scored 14 points in the last two minutes of the game by interceptions. Take those away and you have a final score of 14-6 OSU. The running back for Penn State, Hunt, ran for 135 yards.
Ohio State beat Iowa 38-17 - Tate threw 3 picks.
By halftime the OSU/Cincy score was 13-7.
Florida Wins: Arkansas, Florida State, South Carolina, Georgia, LSU
OSU Wins: Michigan, Penn St., Iowa, Texas, Cincy, Mich. St.
Florida getting 7 points is a Christmas present arriving a few weeks late. Take the points to the bank.

Too true. I cleaned up in last year's title game going against the public. These teams match up well. Then there's Urban Meyer's ability to plan, motivate and coach inside the game. The Gators are looking great to me as 7.5 point dogs. Gimme the points. Hell, gimme a small play on the money line, too.

Funny how time can rewrite history, but I don't recall "everybody was saying how USC would KILL Texas." I know I was on TX and rolled with them, and saw many other experienced bettors siding with them too.
And as I mentioned in a different thread, it is unwise to draw an even parallel with that game. Last year both teams were undefeated, and both cruised through the season with maybe one hicccup trap game in there for each side. Much different scenario here, with one team with a 10-pt loss that backed in with the help of another team losing. The other team was # 1 start to finish, just like USC in 2005. And we know how that one ended... USC winning 55-19.

I was on Texas last year as well but lets not confuse Leak with Young in beinag able to lead an underdog to victory. Your right griller, Meyer is one heck of a coach and can gameplan with the best of them but keep in mind that Tressel might have a better track record. 5-1 against UM and 4-1 in bowl games, (3-0 in tempe). And we all know how OSU fans travel. It was 80% OSU fans in last championship game out there against Miami. Good luck grille
