I speculated on a long shot last night for the hell of it (using my dumb luck TB Bucs money for a big score) and my choice was up 1-0 and about to close out the match when the other player two games away from the match being over retired. That is some shit. I presume this is normal and to be expected if you are betting tennis. Just thought I would run it by the vets here.
Yeah but I am asking if this is always to be expect or just the shit show circuit I bet on last night. If it's always to be expected WTF. I got her as a bonafide 8 to 1 dog and she dominated the match so much so that the other person just gave up. If this is to be expected do any of you ever cash out early in the off chance this happens. My $300 bet could have been cashed out for over $2k but I got greedy and then I got my money back.
Well, it depends on the type of the bet you placed: e.g ML, parlay, handicap, games..etc and most importanly , on the sportbooks you get. So , you´d better check with your sportbook.
Some of them refund your bet if the player retires before a complete set is played, others validates the bet as long as the match starts.

ML bet through Caesars. I am just trying to get into tennis a little more. Don't know the rules hence the questions. But yeah also hard to know if a player looks like they are going to retire or not when you aren't watch the game live but on the little stat tracker on your phone.
Two things to think about:
1) if your 8-1 underdog dominated like that the other player almost 100% either tanked or was injuried from the beginning and if she wasn’t your bet would probably have lost
2) if the bookmaker states “the whole match should be completed” someday in the future you will receive your stake back when your bet is one game from losing (it sucks I get that - but come on grow up)
