Fair enough. We'll see what happens in 3 weeks (women's final---Saturday nght in NYC) at US Open. If Serena DOES NOT win the title, then I will "concede" the argument to you and you can do what you wish and ridicule me in threads until the end of time if you are so inclined.
For the record, if you would carefully deduct the context of my posts, you would see that "you'll need an injury to occur" would only be occasioned in the US Open itself. The injury (knee in Stanford 3 weeks ago) is what prevented Serena from properly training for the Olympics. But since she wanted to play there, especially with her sister for the doubles, she decided to use the matches there as "preparation" for the US Open. I see nothing wrong with that, but apparently, many do. It's not like she took the place of some other USA great on the Olympic team. Outside she and her sister, and maybe Lindsay Davenport, (who pulled out of singles cause of a back injury), the USA has no one worth much in singles. I am sure you know this.
We'll see what happens at US Open.
I would not deign to ridicule only to enjoy a hearty "HA-HA!!!" Looks like I'll get the chance pretty soon. Serena's down a break on the first game of the semi and so long as Safina doesn't beat herself this one is all over but the cryin.
