The US Open, in years past, as always kep the 1-2 seeds on opposite ends of the bracket.  Coincidence?

What is the benefit of being the #1 player in the world if you're not going to reap the benefits of that ranking when the draws come out?  May as well be the #10 seed then.

When fed was #3 he would play either #1 or #2 in the semis

With Fed #1 he will play #3 or #4 in the semi, so yes he has a 50% less chance of playing #3 ( Nadal in the semi) 

I highly doubt Fed will be #1 when the us open starts

after the Olympics I see him not wanting to train very hard, but only time will tell

With Fed at #1 he has a 75% chance of playing Nadal and joker if the top 4 make the semi

With Fed at #2 he has a 75% " "

With Fed at # 3 is has a 100% chance of playing both

So a 25% better chance can be huge if and only if things work perfect

Like I said I highly doubt his #1 will last long enough to get him to the us open

He'll be #1 by the summer/US Open even if he loses (most likely)

He has very few summer points to defend

-2nd round exit Montreal
-Quarterfinal exit in Cinci

He had a very impressive early year

Not federers fault that Nadal lost to a nobody...

 How many times does federer lose to scrubs?   Federer has been ridiculously consistent for the longest time, he was making 18 of 19 finals in grand slams before he went on his losing streak which is still making every quarterfinal of a grand slam... Nadal cant say that...

Probably but between the US Open and the end of year tournament he has a shitload to defend. Don't think he can remain #1 at the end of the year
