Today I’m going with a WTA doubles match.
Alicia Parks & Taylor Townsend -109 (Bookmaker) over Kichenok /Ostapenko. This is an even match on paper, basically a coin toss.
However, for me Taylor Townsend is the glue that will hold this match together with Alicia Parks. Taylor is the wild card.
Taylor reached the Roland Garros final this year with Laylah Fernandez in a losing cause in 3 sets. They could easily have won the match and championship in a 2 set tiebreaker.
Taylor got to the Miami 1000 final and lost with Leylah Fernandez. So, I know that these doubles tourneys is where she makes her money and where her focus truly lies. She has a capable partner in hard serving Parks who also plays with grit and determination.
Kichenok / Ostapenko are a very good doubles team, I mean very good, if they win it will not be shocking or any upset at all.
But today I really think that Parks and Taylor will prevail, by playing the big points just a little better.
In sports wagering sometimes you have got to roll with your gut instinct, prevailing conditions, like playing on home turf in a friendly environment, a player’s hungriness, desire and shear will and determination and today is just one of those days for me.
