my thinkpad just crapped out, but i'm tempted to buy a new one. its just that i'm really thinking hard about buying the 3 year warranty on this for $300.
anyone have any experiences good/bad/other with thinkpads and anyone have an opinion on the warranties?

I've never been a fan of the thinkpads, just too much IBM crap on them. Well, now it will be Leveno instead. Also now a fan of buying the warranty. Most of the time something will happen to the laptop in the first 6 months or less if it's going to happen. Now if you are prone dropping the thing or spilling a drink then by all means get it. But watch out, some of the warrenty's out there will not cover things like that.
Take a look at the new Dell laptops that are out. There come with just the OS on them, none of the extra stuff that slows them down.
