My laptop bit the dust last night

Looking for a new one.  My focus is on an all-round performer but it has to be super light-weight.  It will be used for a lot of music and downloading as well as some mild work stuff (Word processing/spreadsheets etc.)  This laptop will be with me at all times so I want a laptop that can take a little wear-and-tear.

 

My last laptop was 10.5" and around 4 lbs and was great but maybe a little smallish.  I wouldn't want anything bigger than a 15".  I am considering the Macbook, but it seems kinda pricey compared to similar PC machines. 

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Only advice I can give is make sure you destroy your old one.  Be surpised how easy it is for a pro to get in there and get very personal information.

I've been looking at the macbook too, I've heard some really good things abotu them. even though they are abit more expensive they are definatly worth it from what I hear.

 

I've heard many stories about people not properly formatting their HD and losing personal information.  I am going to sell my broken laptop minus the HD.

 

Anyone have any suggestions for a good laptop on the small side (10"-14")

We use dell lat-D600's at work & have had good success..............so I bought one for home & still like it.

 

Just some advice...........I'm not really an expert, but a guy I know repairs computers & has told me that 80% of the ones brought to him for repair contain a Celeron processor.
