High Powered Trading Computers

Question

I am considering buying a Trading Computer. I have looked at the platforms via the websites...such as Elite and Tiger. Is it worth the $5k for a setup I would be using at home for the additional speed to run three monitors nonstop. I currently use a 2006 Apple Mac with a 24" monitor, 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM and having multiple live charts open in different tabs can cause the apple to seriously bog down if I do not open them regularly. This causes me to shut down the computer and restart. I obviously am not the tech geek I should be too know any better. Are their any refurbished models available on the market? The purpose would be for at home use day trading stocks and forex. Does anyone have any insight for me?

No, you are getting bent over.  You can take any regular PC, put in another video card and run many monitors at one time.  I currently use 3 monitors myself.
