FBW files

Any thoughts on how to open these? I had a service update or some shit that didn't work, and I had to restore my computer back to factory specs. I put in a brand new 8GB usb drive, and it took about 210 hours to finish. I now plug in the usb drive, and try to open the files, and get a "Windows cannot open this file, File: Buckup.2.fbw". I have spent a week trying to get H.P. to help, but their online help is horrible. Any help out there would be appreciated, guys!!!!!!!!

It's the HP backup program.  It's looking for the same program to umcompress the data.  That's why I always tell everyone to copy the raw files to thier thumb drives, instead of using a backup program.

210 hours to backup up your data is .  With the .2 in the file name that usually means more than one disk was used.  But where you used your thumbdrive it should be only one.  Do you see an. exe file on the thumb drive now.  You can click on that it there is one.

If you do a google search on this you will see that the HP program has a few bugs in it. 

Thanks, and sorry, Lipps. I hit one too many numbers in the ampunt of time. It was supposed to be 10 hours.....  Anyways, I can't see any .exe file. I had someone tell me that too. I also tried to put it to a CD, but it says there is too much information for one disc, but won't let me "break it down" in to different files to put on a disc. Thanks for the reply. This has been so frustrating.....

Do you still have the old computer ?

Yeah, I have the computer. I tried installing a service-pack 2.0, or some shit. It would stop on 28767 out of 95875 (not sure what the numbers mean), and come up with an error code 0xc01a001d. I googled it, and the best solution it sounded like was to restore the computer back to factory settings. I did, and I'm using the same computer right now, but can't pull the information off that usb drive. I've tried using the desktop, which is XP also, and get the same thing.

So the built in program that backed up your data, won't uncompress your data now ?

The one or two people at the online help desk that actually kinda knew something, talked about pushing the F11 key while starting, and going in the program, and using recovery wizard. I followed what they were saying, but it just wants me to restore again, and nothing about a recovery wizard.

Well the recovery wizard would be once you were on the desktop.  That's a completely different program I believe. Should be listed under programs somewhere

Lipps, maybe I'll try opening that on the desktp. It won't on the laptop. It's just bullshit that I'm supposed to use this update, that they came up with, and it just fucks everything up.
