computer problem, maybe hardware?

hey i hope someone can help

 

my computer has a problem playing videos and sounds.  i cannot play anything on my winamp and quicktime videos and mpg files play for a few seconds and end up playing choppy.  its so weird because i brought it to the shop and when they diagnosed it, everything was perfect and worked fine.  now when i brought it back home, the problem arises again. 

 

the problem occurred after i brought it back on a long car drive from los angeles to san francisco.  i thought it was possible a piece loose, but after opening it up and pushing everything tightly in, the problem still is there?

 

anybody know whats wrong and how i can fix it?

Sounds more like you have spyware running in the background hogging resources.

start

run

type "msconfig:

hit enter

click on the startup tab on the far right.

 

See how programs have a check beside them.  I betcha' quite a few.

what do i do? which one should i uncheck?

leave everything checked that has to do with your anti-virus.  Also leave anything that you use pretty much everyday.  Such as IM'ing programs and such.

 

This will speed you up greatly.  Give this a try and get back with me about the results.
